Rule 1: Don't go to Warped tour. Kids are fucking out of control lately. I saw kids walking away from a pit during Relient K with bloody faces. It was ridiculous.

Don't be scared of the pit. If you don't like the idea, stay the fuck away, otherwise jump in, and have fun.
moshing is for mindless male people to flex there muscles and show off how big there dicks are. what evern happened to dancing? seriously.
Watch the dvds. Or join ETS and ask there in Random NIN Questions. You'll get some interesting stories. I heard it's worth it
haha some great tips here from my experience in moshes -it defintely depends on the band for how intense the mosh is going to be the worst thing and pointless thing is when during concerts when not many are moshing, they encourage circle pits and wall of death type things. My tip's would be to let go,stay with ur friends,wear some shoes!! lol and only be in there if you want to and if you don't get the hell out of there to a non moshing part. =] its awesome fun but
