"The heat from Walt Disney Records is enough to thaw the company’s legendary founder, as High School Musical 2 dominates the HITS’ Album Sales chart with a #1 finish and 618k in sales, second only to Linkin Park’s 625k for the year’s biggest debut."
YES!!! LP ftfw!!! For some reason this is one of the coolest things I've seen, its not often real music outsells absolute crap these days.
You had me scared that it was serious. Of course a kids record will sell more, think of all the kids all around the world. There's HUGE amounts of children in relation to people 13-30 (avg demographic)
"The first week of sales for the soundtrack CD of High School Musical 2 saw 615,000 copies move off the shelves, making it the second-hottest CD of the year, slightly behind the debut of Linkin Park's Minutes to Midnight, which moved 623,000 in its debut week, according to Billboard magazine." So LP keeps its record for the biggest first week of 2007 in the U.S. and worldwide theres only one release that could steal the record and (probably will) is 50 Cent/Kanye West simultaneous release later this year so its all good XP
Not really, hip-hop sales are down 40%. This also makes me think of what M2M sales would have been if the CD never leaked, because both Kanye, and 50's new albums leaked like a week ago.
"THREE WAY RACE: Initial prognostications from the respective camps in the Kanye West-50 Cent-Kenny Chesney chart race see the two rappers in the 600k range, each with a shot at beating Linkin Park’s first-week record of 625k back in May, while Chesney looks to be in the 450-500k area. As far as pre-orders go, West is leading 50 by 2-1 at both iTunes and Amazon.com, though Fitty has a 2-1 edge in searches at Yahoo, a reliable measure of buzz factor. All three albums hit retail tomorrow. (9/10p)" http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi
Anybody remember when Hannah Montana outsold My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade in its first week?
Now that's fucked up. Possibly getting outsold by two of the biggest rappers in the world is one thing, but getting outsold by some tween-rock or T.V.-musical soundtrack is enough to make me give up all hope. Tbh, it wouldn't be too surprising for someone to break MTMs record. The album came out in May, so there's plenty of time for others to overtake it.
i don't get how could that be it's so hilarious and funny to a whole disney movie that is so.........so............... i don't even know what to say any way it's not the end of life
