    I adore them.

I stopped listening to them for a while, then I broke my earphones (I know, my third pair, too) and only have one functioning earphone. What does this have to do with P!ATD? My earphones spread the sound unevenly, so with my right earphone - the working one - all I hear is prettymuch bass and vocals, with a bit of drums and lead guitar. I put on a P!ATD song and I was blown away. I'd forgotten how great they sound.

Although, granted, I would go to a concert of theirs (and I think that they're coming to Moscow this year), I'm kind of dreading listening to them live. Still, listening to them on a player is great. They have this wonderful boppy yet meaningful sound. Ryan Ross sure writes good lylrics. Each one is a story within itself.

I also do not understand why they're lumped in the 'emo' category. What is emo about them? Their eye makeup? Because that's stupid if it is the reason. It just shows how good boys are getting at applying makeup =P.

If they were big seven years ago they would have been post-grunge. If they were big seven years prior to that they would have been grunge or pop-punk, or britpop if they were from Britain. If they were big twenty years before that they'd probably have been called glam. They're just alternative rock.

I think it is hard to deny that P!atD are about as poppy as a band can really get before losing the instruments and doing choreographed dances. I mean, I like them a lot, but it seems silly to deny they are very poppy.

I don't think "pop" equals "generic".

I am not trying to insult Panic! or anything, and they aren't PURE pop. They are closer to pop-punk or something like that. There is definitely a pop element though.

    I'm with you on that.
And as people say, they really aren't good live, they can barely play their instruments anyway.

@ Dean: I didn't mean pop as an insult, far from it. I know there's such thing as quality pop, rare as it may be

To be fair they've only been a band for three years. They haven't had the experience of playing hundreds of live shows to be good. There's a huge difference between sitting down in a studio playing guitar and running around on stage playing guitar.

I'd agree they're pop punk, but not straight up pop.
