now that it has leaked what do you guys think of it? I think its a GREAT CD. but i still like SOAD better, cause you CAN tell a difference..plus Serj+Daron=magic Serj=good but not magic favorite songs: Empty walls Saving us The unthinking majority Sky is over Money
It's better than I thought it'd be but it's not anywhere near as good as System of a Down. I'd give it a 6/10.
I honestly don't like it at all. The only song that's tollerable for me is ''Sky Is Over'' and that's it. I never was a huge System fan anyways, but still. I'm glad he is making the type of music he wants and can be successful, but I just flat out don't like the album. It kinda sucks because I was hoping it would be good.
i love it! empty walls is absolutely awesome. it reminds me of the earlier SOAD songs...the better ones. aint the album out on the 27th?!?!? i find this little neat site where you can search for his tours and album reviews www.fasterlouder.com.au/serjtankian
While it's an amazing album, I really think it lacks the dynamics and experimentation of System of a Down's albums. You can really tell Daron is missing. While it's kind of a more eastern rock sound throughout the album, he doesn't really move around much. There's the piano there.. and then he plucks some strings.. and then there are the power chords. Okay. Then it's throughout the entire album. And it sounds like he brings back parts of The Unthinking Majority in nearly every song, and that's slightly annoying for me, because I thought The Unthinking Majority was the worst song on the album. I'd say 7/10. I love Serj so much. He's one of my idols, but I think he could have done a better job. It's amazing.. but not fucking amazing.
I say it's about on par with Mesmerize/Hypnotize, which I felt were far weaker than SOAD's previous work.
I love the album, but like MTM, it didn't sound amazing on the first listen, but, well, after a few days I have to say that its great
Love the album, reminds me of Toxicity-era System, before they decided letting Darron sing was a good idea. But this CD is better than Hypnotize and Memorize.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to listen to it yet but i am eagerly awaiting a chance to get to the record store, esspecially now that i've realised the torrent site i used gave viruses and viruses + low amount of disk space = shit.
Anyone else think the acoustic version of Feed Us is much better than the album version? Maybe he should've let the album start with amplified instruments (Empty Walls/Unthinking Majority) and gradually let it go acoustic (Elect the Dead/acoustic versions of some other songe i.e. Feed Us).
