I don't think it was about button smashing. However, in Melee and the original, I feel as if button mashing was definitely a lot easier. This basically eliminates button mashing all together. You have to know what you're doing.
Man, this game is pretty much perfect. I never got to play Melee, so the transition from the first (which I still play to this day on my N64 ) to this one is quite a change and it feels weird. The only real issues I've got with the game are the controls. I don't feel comfortable with the nunchuck controls so I use the remote setting instead... and it makes jumping such a pain in the ass. I liked it when I could do a double jump with the push of the button and not having to use the "up" direction to jump... mainly because in the middle of all that chaos, it gets hard making sure you are pushing up, worse when you're trying to do recovery jumps. Other than that, this game is awesome. I spent like an hour just playing Brawl matches before playing Classic mode and starting the Space-what-you-call-it adventure mode. I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow... so much brawling to do yet so little time!
I gotta say, I customized the controls and I use the Classic Controller, which is basically a GameCube controller with less moving around the controller itself. I've always been a huge Link fan, and he's beginning to be shadowed by Meta Knight. His moves are just so fast and vicious. BTW, if anyone has Friend Codes, we should post them so we can get some battles going! Mine is: 3866-7676-4368
After god knows how many hours, I have finally beaten the subspace emissary. Now all I have to do is go back through and get the remaining characters.
I only have a Wiimote nunchuck. I'm highly contemplating getting one of the other controllers because aside from a few of the games that require me to use the nunchuck, I always a "classic" control style... It's just the old school gamer within, I think. And I'm taking my time with the Subspace Emissary mode. Some of those levels are tricky. I got to admit, the Virtual Boy cameo made me laugh.
I just played Brawl at a friend's house for like..5 hours or something (lmao). Everything is still pretty much the same, but I'm still lovin' it. The only problem I had with it, is that it seemed as though it's much more easier to be knocked out now. I used to be able to survive for a really long time even with 200% + damage. Is there a way to change the settings for durability or something? ( I don't remember Melee having that option)
Unless you go into Special Brawl, I don't think you can do anything about that. To be honest, I haven't even noticed it. Now that I've got all the characters, this is how my top 5 looks: 1. Lucario 2. Wolf 3. Pit 4. Sonic 5. Meta Knight
Here's how mine is looking. I haven't actually played with everyone (nor have we unlocked everyone yet) but here's what I've had fun playing: 1. Falco (Yeah, I know, he's not new. But he's reliable!) 2. Diddy Kong (I actually had a lot of fun playing him. His Final Smash is tats. ) 3. Bowser (I was never a Bowser player in Melee, but now I just find him to be solid. And Giga Bowser is the shit) 4. Yoshi (my first character back on the 64... I PWN with his egg throw. 5. Pokemon Trainer (GOTTA CATCH'EM ALL!)
I got a chance to play the game yesterday for a few hours and I must say - it does kick ass. Too bad I don't have enough money to find a Wii on Ebay...
Okay, new list now that I've been playing nonstop for the past two days: 1. Yoshi - I can't believe I stopped playing him! Fun as hell. 2. Falco - Same. 3. Lucario - Down-B FTW. 4. Diddy Kong - He's alright... not as great at him but I'm willing to learn. 5. Fox - His down-B attack seems so lame now. But whatever. Still fun.
