I think Varg Vikernes' views on religion are quite fascinating. I don't agree with 99% of them but it's interesting to see his point of view on things. The guy, unlike alot of Black Metal artists, isn't just some angry satanic dude with no knowledge of what he represents. Apparently he's up for parole this month.
This is exactly why I don't think an artist can be controversial. If you're going to adhere to the strictest definition of "controversial," then every artist who's ever written, performed and released a form of music is controversial. I'd like to point out, I'm not trying to start arguments or anything. I'm just saying, if you consider the word "controversial," every artist is controversial.
Yea, all the above. Add KoRn to the list, they're musically controversial I think. Oh it's Big Day Out, just btw Midnight Oil. Seriously, 'Sorry' suits at the Olympics? That's gotta be the biggest political statement ever made by a band, to the biggest audience any band has ever played to.
