I use to really be into Staind but Aaron reuins the whole thing with his shitty lyrics. I'm not trying to piss anyone off but he keeps writting worse and worse.. not to mention, his life isn't even hard and never was. I know this because he whines about every little thing in his songs. If his ass itches, he's going to write about it. I use to be like him but I have realized, just because your unhappy or depressed doesn't mean you have a shitty life. Not to mention, he can't go a song without using the same shitty rhyming. In every song he either rhymes do/you/through, okay/away/today or hide/pride. It's just so boring and predictable.
I agree with J Money. '14 Shades of Grey' is great and all, but it doesn't have the lyric capture like they had in 'Break the Cycle'. Although I became a fan of Staind after 'Break the Cycle', and I've heard very little of 'Dysfunction', I think that the lyrics got worse. I still like the CD, but I can't stand the lyrics. Their lyrics were so universal... Now they're not. I think the only song I really think is one of those universal type songs is "Zoe Jane." A lot of the rest of it is just like, he wrote the lyrics with no real meaning behind them.
I actually thought in 14 Shades Of Grey Aaron did a lot less "whining". Most songs, in my opinion, were about other people instead of himself. Price To Play - Not about himself. How About You - Not about himself. So Far Away - About himself, but he's not complaining about his life. He's actually stating that he's pretty happy with it I think. Yesterday - Seems like it is about himself. Fray - Seems like he is complaining in this song, as well as talking about someone else. Zoe Jane - Kind of about himself. But once again, not complaining. Fill Me Up - About him and a loved one I think. He isn't complaining though. Layne - Obviously not about himself. Falling Down - About someone else. Reality - About someone else. Actually my favorite off the album. Seems like it's asking everyone who feels the way he used to why they feel like that. Tonight - Seems like it's about himself but doesn't seem like he's complaining. Maybe a little. Ok, I don't feel like doing the rest. Anyway, most aren't even about him.
A Flat was a very well-written song. Then you have Take it, Waste and For You which were okay but not anywhere as predictable as 14 Shades. Not to mention, the guitar annoys me a lot too. Go download "Crawl" and tell me, doesn't the guitar get extremely old before the song ends? That song had potential as well with lyrics like "I'm so lonely, your so beautiful" and "Stretched and torn I lay here in pieces/Craving all of your deadly vices" but the rest of it is horrible.
The only song I like [And truly love] from dysfunction is Home Break The Cycle is much darker and angrier than 14 shades If anything, the new cd is more positive than there other attempts...
You forgot Intro (last song ironically) and although it's about himself, he's thanking people in his life (family, friends) for putting up with him when he was on drugs, ect, so no real whining there
ok he wrote it for his daugher, she is called zoe jane and its a love message dedicated to her. she is one reason why he is so positive in his life now
I like staind but since they're pa I can't buy it. I can buy the censored, but who wants a song that has blanks in it?
