The 80's had THE original rock bands that's nothing like how it is today. What are some of your guys picks? Besides styix and led, I'd have to give props to ZZ Top. These guys expanded the rock genre and it's pretty cool that they're still releasing. I saw their new dvd And i cant believe how the guys can bring back their audiences back into the 80's the way they do. Any classic rock fans in here who can say the same? marty fontana
Wasn't Led Zeppelin in the 70's? By the way, if were going just classic rock bands overall, my favourite is The Beatles. If were going just the 80's, then probably U2.
No matter what people want to say about them, U2 deserves a spot under the legendary bands category. Next to Led Zeppelin they're probably one of my favorite rock bands of all time.
i would definetly put Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin up there though the former is a tad mellow...but thats just me
I might be a homer since I'm from his hometown but Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers will always be my all-time favorite.
Iron Maiden as classic rock? Anyways, Aerosmith, Journey, Boston, Motley Crue, Joan Jett, Heart, Poison, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bon Jovi, Blue Oyster Cult, The Cars, The Doors, David Bowie, The Eagles, Foreigner, The Who, Queen, ZZ Top, The Police, Guns N' Roses, The Rolling Stones, Twisted Sister That's all that comes to my mind for now.
I still don't think anything that came out post-disco should be considered "classic rock." I will always be a KISS fan, regardless of how much flak I catch for it, or how much of an ignorant asshole Gene Simmons is.
well although it might not seem like it any more with bands like cannibal corpse and napalm death, but metal is a form of rock.
Exactly. In their day, Guns N' Roses were considered metal for Gods sake. So if they can be classic rock, so can Maiden. or that's how i see it anyway. Rock is a large genre, encompassing metal and everything else based ion guitars, bass, drums and keyboards. Like yeah, there's more to it, but basically that's the simply definition for a rock band.
Well, yeah, I see what you're saying. Just like Motley Crue and hell Aerosmith for god's sake. (At least that what my mother, and uncles say) But I hear Guns N' Roses on a Classic Rock station I listen to. So...Yeah. I mean, don't get me wrong Iron Maiden is classic. But I would says Guns N' Roses has more of a Classic Rock feel than Maiden. But that's just me. To each their own. I was just thrown off seeing them on here, because I've never heard them labeled as Classic Rock.
Fair enough, I think we actually managed to clearly explain each others points of view without arguing. Holy shit!
