I've only just recently installed Firefox on my system since I had to reformat and just wondered what add-ons people use and couldn't possibly do without once they have them?
Adblock Plus - no explanation needed Better Gmail 2 - a lifehacker extension. i could use a bunch of greasemonkey scripts, but this does well. DownThemAll! - makes downloading big files easier, 10 chunks Firebug - i'm a web developer, so this is extremely useful Foxmarks - keeps my bookmarks in sync with my other computers Greasemonkey - useful for making tweaks to various websites Hide Tab Bar - nifty when taking screenshots. Mouse Gestures Redox - once you start using mouse gestures, you can't go back. Nightly Tester Tools - forces compatibility with various extensions Smart Bookmarks Bar - removes bookmark names from bookmarks toolbar so can keep my bookmarks, address bar and menus on one bar (minimal) Stylish - like greasemonkey, helps make tweaks to various sites tabgroups - extremely useful. say you're looking into a few different things. you can separate each subject into it's own tab so you dont lose yourself in a billion tabs on one bar Tamper Data - i'm a web developer, as already mentioned, i need to check what my scripts are sending to my server sometimes for debugging purpopses
Ad Block Plus No Script - automatically disables javascript (and other various scripts, including flash) on webpages, to prevent malicious use of them, forcing me to enable scripts manually for sites that i know i trust. This addon makes firefox the safest browser available. Also helpful in blocking ads. Nightly Tester Tools FlashGot - for integration with my download manager, Net Transport Tabs Mix Plus - provides tons of options for customizing tab behavior FaviconizeTab - reduces the width of certain tabs (that i specify) to just the favicon Web Developer Toolbar - awesome toolbar full of useful tools for web developers Fission - makes a safari-like loading progress bar in the location/awesome bar Download Status bar - shows progress of current downloads right above the status bar Greasemonkey Google toolbar Menu Editor - Allows you to edit all context menus in firefox, including file, edit, and the right click menus. Toolbar Buttons - provides dozens of great toolbar buttons Hide menubar - allows you to hide the top menu bar (file, edit, view, etc). i use toolbar buttons (from the previous addon) for various functions
