Thoughts about the new Google Chrome browser? - available for download at the google homepage. It looks and acts the same to me as firefox does, so far. It's annoying though how the text doesn't fit on the buttons in the options menu. It looks quite stylish though.
Do you know if you can get add ons and stuff for it? I'm using Safari because my Firefox and IE are ruined from some virus I can't get rid of, so it'd be awesome for me if Chrome had the add-ons feature.
i have no idea, man .. so sorry .. you see, i barely used it n i rather suck at "tech" stuff, but i can figure it out for you if you want!..
I really doubt anyone's made an add-on yet. It was only released yesterday. Edit — Anyway, I don't like it. My mouse doesn't work with it at all. And I hate how the whole browser shuts down when you close the last tab you're looking at. I'm sure that could've been changed in the options, but I didn't bother. I'll just stick with Firefox.
It's slightly glitchy, but considering it is a beta version and not the final...this is to be expected. Personally, I feel it loads sites a lot faster than Firefox and I love that. I don't like however that the address bar doesn't seem to have a drop down capability. I imagine this has to be an oversight.
The address bar doesn't have drop-down by nature, just as they don't have menus by nature. It does have a recommendation feature that's pretty much a drop-down, however. Anyways, it's OK for right now. There's a ton of bugs and glitches, but it is the first public release, so we'll see how quickly they get squashed. It's got some decent ideas, but there's plenty I just don't care for. It's based on the Apple WebKit, but it isn't even using the latest version... so I'm sure when they update that a few minor bugs will be fixed. Flash rendering is absolutely horrible, but Java renders great because of how they converted it to machine code.
Since it's using the old WebKit, there's a few security exploits in it, so be careful when using. Aside from that, the technical way it works is pretty interesting, melikes. Although, in terms of speed, Firefox 3.1b is faster, in case anyone was wondering. The lack of mouse gestures and other extensions is killing me, though.
It's a modified version of the old webkit. According to what I've read, the security issues with webkit were fixed. Mouse gestures doesn't matter to me. Smooth scrolling does.
I'm really enjoying it. I was having some delay issues but now it seems to be working fine. It actually works a little faster than Fire Fox from what I can tell. I know it's still Beta but I'm sure they will fix a lot of issues when Beta 2 comes out
The EULA states that anything published through the "service" (Chrome) becomes the intellectual property of google. Don't publish anything through it.
That was changed yesterday. It was an error in the writing of the EULA. It has since been updated and the update is retroactive.
