The Wait Is Over: New Linkin Park Coming May 18th!

can we really base their next album's sound off the new track? I mean this was made FOR the movie... ? I'll hold judgment, but I'm still very excited for it, I can't wait

 

I wonder if the layered synths that Mike was talking about will be a focal point (which would be an interesting change), or more of a starting point, like on Meteora.

 

Probably, considering that they've been working on it during the same sessions/at the same time.

 

I couldn't help it. It was there. My grammar nazi tendencies come and go.

 

Musically, I don't see why not. Lyrically, I doubt it.

 

I hope their lyrics aren't like Hybrid Theory/Meteora days, especially Meteora. I just hope Phoenix plays seperately from Brad, and that we hear an equal amount of Chester and Mike. But, since this is for a movie, I'm not expecting anything special.

I assumed it would be instrumental, but i guess vocals aren't out of the question.

But yeah, when i first read the thread title i thought 'New Linkin Park album May 18th next year? Isn't it a little early to announce that?'

Should be good i guess. I thought they would make us wait a bit longer, so this is good news.

 

The really important question isn't when it will be released but when it will leak.

 

I doubt there would be so much hype and so much work into one song and then have it be an instrumental.

I can't wait for this! Now the freedom with layered synths is that there are so many options. Layering different sounds on top of each other and different instruments opens new doors, and I think this might be one LP is walking through. Breaking through label walls is what this band now has the ability to do, and I think this one is gonna sound like most of the songs they've made - great!

 

This is kinda off-topic, but what happened to the board? I remember when their was a rumour that What I've Done was gonna be premiered on a radio station, and we had a 20 page thread going by the time we realized it was fake. And here we are, with the first new song in 2 years confirmed to be less then two years away, and we've got less than 2 pages. Strange.

Also, the layered synths sound neat, hopefully they do something interesting with it.

 

A lot of people thought Minutes to Midnight was crap, and lost faith in the band and don't follow anymore. I'm kind of glad, though. Reminds me of 2000 when the band was kindof exclusive and not well-known. I have hopes that when the song drops that I won't have trouble coming to the forum because it usually gets so overloaded that it crashes.

I hope it is heavier than all of the ballads on MTM. I think MTM would have been more popular with the fans easily if they had not put 7 out of the 11 songs excluding wake ballads.

 

They shouldn't be obliged to please their fans though.
