I don't really keep up to date with the stuff that Panic do any more.. but I didn't see this coming the source is Panic's Facebook Fan page
I just read this on ap.net and man this just sucks. Goddamnit. From what I can remember, Ryan Ross was the lyricist of the band. Losing him is huge.
News sucks, but here's too hoping their next album is in the same vein as 'fever...', as I was not a fan of the sound of their last album.
Fuck fuck no!!! Ryan was my favorite part of Panic. So, when I see them in August with Blink, Ryan fuckin' Ross, the mastermind behind the band and Jon Walker won't be up on stage with them? I hope they at least finish the Blink tour before they split.
Wait, wasn't Ryan the principle member of this band? He wasn't the frontman, no, but I thought that he contributed the most to the actual tracks and direction of the group. Actually, the lead singer came in last, so yeah. That being said, i'm actually excited for this, because in my opinion the lead singer (I forget his name for some reason. Brendon? Maybe? I don't know) was holding them back. I think that these two could do something great.
Ryan wrote all the lyrics to the first album, and the majority of them on the second. I think, Mad As Rabbits got lyrical input from all members, that's why it makes no sense at all. I think Ryan did a lot of the song writing as well. And I actually love his voice on the second album and live. So I am excited to see his and Jon's project. I have a feeling it will be more of Pretty Odd's Beatle Esque feel, Ryan was so into that and Jon was as well. Brendan is an amazing vocalist so I will be looking forward to the next Panic album. But I just hate seeing the name "Panic at The Disco" without Ryan involved. I feel like Brendan was drifting more towards a FOB status, mixing some Hip Hop elements and things like FOB's latest album had. So, I guess it isn't a complete letdown, but it just sucks.
To be honest, I never really liked Brendan's vocals. They sounded too generic for me, I really felt that if Ryan moved up to vocals and they continued to refine their Beatles-esque pop they could be great. So, maybe this is good news.
Yeah Cool Cow, I like Brendan, but I would much rather listen to Ryan, and Ryan isn't all High note super mega anything. He just sounds so gentle and good. Behind The Sea is one of my favorite songs.
Well that came outta nowhere. It will be interesting to hear what comes outta this. Hopefully it'll be just as good as the group working together. Makes me wonder if Brendan was going Axl on them...?
lol @ all the whiney little emo brats who A) don't understand the difference between people leaving a band and a band breaking up, and B) think that this is in any way unfair to the PATD fans. Any "fan" who thinks a band/artist owes them ANYTHING is an idiot.
If this is the project..crap I REALLY want to hear Ryan sing way more. But I do like the sound they have, so I am sure I will like the band.
From Wikipedia: "Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith, however, are still in the band and will continue playing as Panic at the Disco.[20] It has been claimed by Pete Wentz on his official Twitter that some of the new material that Brendon and Spencer are working on has a more A Fever You Can't Sweat Out sound." If so, maybe this is good, but I will miss Ryan.
Personally I loved the 60s esque experimental sound of Pretty. Odd. and will be disappointed if they go back to their old sound. Its so immature and cookie cutter compared to what they made now.
