Funeral for a Friend have posted a new song entitled "Wrench" on their official MySpace profile. The song is one of four new songs taken from the band's upcoming compilation album, Your History Is Mine: 2002–2009, which is set to be released through Atlantic in the U.K. to fulfill their previous record contract. The two-disc release, essentially a "greatest hits" collection, is marked for a 28 September 2009 release. The track listing is as follows:

    Disc one
    01. "10:45 Amsterdam Conversations" (from Between Order and Model)
    02. "This Year's Most Open Heartbreak" (from Four Ways to Scream Your Name)
    03. "Juneau" (from Casually Dressed & Deep in Conversation)
    04. "She Drove Me to Daytime Television" (from Casually Dressed)
    05. "Escape Artists Never Die" (from Casually Dressed)
    06. "Red Is the New Black" (from Casually Dressed)
    07. "Streetcar" (from Hours)
    08. "Roses for the Dead" (from Hours)
    09. "History" (from Hours)
    10. "Into Oblivion (Reunion)" (from Tales Don't Tell Themselves)
    11. "Walk Away" (from Tales)
    12. "Kicking and Screaming" (from Memory and Humanity)

    Disc two
    "Built to Last"
    "Captains of Industry"
    "No Honour Among Thieves"
    "Wrench"

The full track listing for the album's second disc has not yet be revealed, but it is known that, in addition to these four new songs, it will contain rarer material from the band's history.

I still think that 7 years is a really strange time base for releasing a greatest hits album. It should be at least 10 years! Come on!

I think, as I noted in the post, that they're only releasing this to fulfill their contract with Atlantic. That's why most bands have been putting these out recently (see Atreyu as a prime example). It just seems like Funeral are putting more work into theirs, rather than having some random guy put it together, which I think is awesome.

But you're right, at least ten years would be better.

As long as the second disc is substantial enough I'm fine with it. They have A LOT of b-sides to choose from.

Ah, I see. I misunderstood what you meant by the comment. I thought you were just noting that I'd be the last album on that label, rather than pointing out that it's basically being released to get them off that label!

Yeah. Their next album, like Memory and Humanity, will be put out through their own label, Join Us, with international (outside the U.K.) distribution done by Victory.

I didn't notice Atlantic were releasing it. When I look at it with that in mind, I feel like it's actually not such a bad deal either way considering the circumstances.

Haha, I already have every single one of those songs, but it will be nice to have them all in one place. Plus, 4 new songs will be awesome. Love Wrench already, I'm really excited to see what the rest is like because they essentially have 2 vocalists now. I'm really excited to see what the future holds for these guys.

'You Want Romance?', I honestly forgot that song exsisted (as daft as that sounds) and I used to love it too. That aside, I've only heard 'This Letter' and the Thin Lizzy cover off of the second disk.

I stopped following the band so closely after 'Hours', but I did pick up a copy of TDTT (and thought it was actually pretty good) but I can't say I really want to look into their latest studio album.

    I'll break it down.

Casually Dressed: one of the defining albums of its genre.
Hours: pretty inconsistent, some of their best songs and some that are quite weak by comparison to their best.
    Tales: really solid album.
M&H: same as Hours only the peaks aren't as high.

    That's my opinion at least.

I'd break it down about the same way as you, Dean.

I'm looking forward to that second disc now. I've got a little more than half of those songs, but I don't have "The Rise and Fall," "Crash and Burn," "Africa," "Faster," or "Join Us."

I think the new songs are what I'd originally hoped Memory And Humanity would sound like.

This has been a great week for FFAF. I like the new stuff a lot, and thanks to the third disc, I've now heard music that I never even knew existed by my favorite band. I mean, after listening to 'This Letter' for four years, it's really cool to hear the full band version. Stuff like that.

I'm excited to see where they go next.

In the future I would like for there to be a band where Gav is the lead vocalist.

Also, to Dragon Ninja or Will or anyone else who may know, are the live acoustic versions of Juneau and History that are on the internet from the same set as the versions of Drive and American Football included on here?
