So, my Windows Explorer on a Vista-OS TOSHIBA laptop has shut down a couple of times recently, like, for no apparent reason; here's the log of the most recent incident, if anyone could tell me what it means or how the information could help. - System - Provider [ Name] Application Error - EventID 1000 [ Qualifiers] 0 Level 2 Task 100 Keywords 0x80000000000000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2009-09-14T09:41:49.000Z EventRecordID 12974 Channel Application Computer minutebook Security - EventData Explorer.EXE 6.0.6001.18164 4907e242 wmp.dll 11.0.6001.7007 4a5c81f0 c0000005 000de953 1080 01ca33fc5c672840 Screenshot of the log:
It looks like Explorer (the thing that actually runs Windows) had an error and shut down. That's probably not what you're looking for but that's all I really gathered from it.
wmp.dll is something to do with Windows Media Player, I think. Looks like maybe WMP had some kind of error and caused a bunch of other things to go haywire and shut down.
Thanks. Yeah, I saw that .dll listed but I wasn't sure if I could label it as the cause of the problem ...
Looks like something with windows media player crashed explorer. Do you use windows media player as your main player? If so, consider switching to something else and see if that resolves it. If not, look into completely removing it, as there might be conflicting issues with explorer.
