During tonight's performance of 99 Problems on Saturday Night Live, Jay-Z's band launched into an impromptu cover of "Points Of Authority" while Jay-Z rapped the lyrics to "99 Problems" over the instrumental, providing a clear nod to the Collision Course mash-up album that both Jay and Linkin Park did back in 2004.

While Linkin Park unfortunately did not make a cameo, here is a video of the performance (we apologize for the audio quality):

Note: We know Jay-Z does this often on tour however we decided to post this as news because it was on a live televised event. Also as of this morning Culture Bully has posted a higher quality video on their site.

Well I'll be damned, that's pretty sweet.

Good look getting it on YouTube though, NBC are freakin bloodhounds when it comes to hosting SNL clips.

Sweet. I wish Jay-Z had actually rapped a few POA verses though. That'd be bizarre.

He's been doing this for a while actually. They usually mix in POA or Back In Black by AC/DC over 99 Problems.

And your point being? We know Jay-Z does this often on tour. We just decided to post this as news because it was on a live televised event. And news isn't exactly exploding onto the front pages. News is slow, and this was cool so we reported on it. We would've done the same for the show you just mentioned.

Until linkin park actually release album updates, I see no problem with posting things like this. It keeps the front page updated and is good for the fans. So why not? *shrugs*

I agree :) I think it's good to post anything interesting.
I think I'll actually watch my DVR'd SNL to see the clip with good quality. (SNL has been pretty lame recently...there's little incentive to watch it anymore.)

yeah this was pretty cool, i was watching snl live too. jay-z actually did alot of songs during his set (condensed 4 songs or so), and he did a really great job. he closed off the set with "forever young" and dedicated it to betty white who was hosting that night, haha.

Of course posting these news is sweet. It's sad when there's like a week blank actually, so it's always cool to see stuff.
About the performance itself, yes it was great and i find it quite fair he uses LP's music. After all LP leave a space for Jay's cameo on Faint on quite a lot of concerts, and Chester "sponsorizes" him a lot with his "makes a noise for Jay-Z!!!" like 4-5 times in the same concert lol. Like in Milton Keynes or the show in New York. (not for being cinical or bad or anything, but the outro of Faint is something between the most epical things LP did to date, and i personally prefer them doing it naturally like in the Transformers 2 premiere concert version, much instrumental and occasional Chester screams, than not instrumental and Chester saying about Jay-Z, as it kinda ruins the atmosphere of the powerful outro).
It seems to me then that Mike admires him a lot, so there is for sure a nice mood flowing between the band and Jay.
