Unconfirmed. Linkin Park haven't made any concrete statements on that.

What makes it almost hard to believe LP could go Progressive Rock (although I've always wanted them to go that direction) is that most progressive rock songs...if we're to really go into TRUE progressive rock...lasted sometimes upwards of 20 minutes. A good example is Jethro Tull's "Thick As A Brick". All the album comprises of is two tracks, both clocking at over 20 minutes a shot. I don't think LP are going pure Prog Rock (and neither is Muse..muse is modern Prog, not true original Prog), but it'd be nice to have them draw influence. The beauty of Progressive Rock is that it doesn't just have one sound. It can be slow and mellow, upbeat and fast...there's so many varitites. Here's a couple to 'introduce' people to Prog.

Yes - Roundabout (a true classic, and with a SICK bassline)

Pink Floyd - Time (From their "Dark Side of The Moon" album. Very loud bells in the beginning, but a very good song. Amazing solo in the middle)

Rush - Tom Sawyer (...yes, the song heard in I Love You Man)

A word of warning to everyone: keep raising your hopes and setting expectations for specific things and you're all bound to be massively disappointed.

If they would just give us the name of the single/album and/or a release date... Would be so satisfactory.. :)

Yeah, but with the BIO description we got with the infamous Motown drums and AC/DC riff, I'll take any of Mike's song descriptions with a grain of salt.

Yeah, about the release date. As it hasn't been confirmed it's hard to say. As the 24th is a Friday, that means it would be released on 27th in the UK, and 28th in the US. It could just be an estimate on German Amizons side.

The Motown drums part of the description was actually more or less accurate.

Yeah the drums definitely have a motown beat to them, its just the guitar (imho) was way far from ACDC. It was more U2 then anything.

Yeah, the guitars don't sound particularly AC/DC-ish. To me they come closer to sounding like Bloc Party or something along those lines.

I really don't understand fans who hold it against a band when an album is different from how it was described whilst in the writing and recording sessions. So the band HAVE to include the songs they described during the creation process? Just because they happened to mention them at some point? If anything people should be grateful they even choose to talk about how they're working and how some of their songs are turning out.

Fair enough be disappointed but don't take it out on the band. It's not like they lied. If you wanted an in depth analysis on how it was ultimately going to sound you should read a review before buying.

Also there's a big difference from how the band may describe their sound during the creation process and how someone outside of the band describes a 6 Track CD of possibly completed material.
