For anyone who still can't see the video, it's on YT (that is, until WMG kills it): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAPXbypyaq0
Just viewed the music video over on YouTube moments ago. Wow. I Loved it! May their streak of incredible music videos resurface once more! The video premieres on Much Music Canada at midnight!
copy/paste from LPU I think he may presents what they describe as 'something beautiful can be destructive', parellel with the symbol of a dark, frightful power- the power of annihilation like that of the deity Shiva, a symbol of 'great time' that will destroy everything, and start everything all over again from ashes. Well, since Shiva is called 'the ravisher', Mike may as well got this role since OBVIOUSLY, he's the rapist in Linkin Park. I love how the very first video featured the theme of death and destruction, which also means a new start - of a new era, a new world, and their new music. This is pretty deep, me thinks. And where's the elephant! -- I agree with someone above, Mike represents death.
Well. Where should I start... Pro: - Slowmotions - Mike gets a lot of screentime - dave on the bass - the guitars in the water Contra: - monotone (maybe its exactly what joe wanted) - the water scene: chester looked really weird Anyway finally a new video by the band...did actually somebody knocked down one of the band members in the video? LOL Oh and the video fits perfectly on how often you will hear the bandmembers on the album: brad=rarely. *picture of the day*
I liked it a lot. I'll definitely watch it a few more times to really let it soak in. Some parts were a little blurry on what exactly the meaning behind it was, but overall I thought it was done very well. With that, I'm off this forum until after the album drops. I don't wanna see any spoilers for album leaks. Peace out LPA, it's been a blast building up hype for A Thousand Suns with you guys. I'll talk to you all after I hear it for myself. ~BLK
Meh, not really that mindblowing. I don't really see the point of it. But I never really was a big fan of music videos. The only thing that's good for me is that they finally show the entire band playing, rather than focusing on Chester only like in New Divide or Shadow of the Day.
I'm with a lot of people, really liked the video but god how i wish it was the full song rather than an edit. i miss hearing the outro part of the song
I really enjoyed the video. It was visually great and I think there's a lot of interpretations you could associate with it. Look forward to the HD version.
I love the monochrome and the atmosphere, and how it all builds up to the colors. I need a few more watches for it to really sink in and i can meditate on a real interpretation, though i rather do it on the TV tomorrow when i DVR it. also m-m-m-m-m-Mike is sooooo badass. Mike trained under Splinter, and then later King Kai. He learned the spirit bomb and then blew up the whole city on accident. He needs the hood to stay hidden, so his ninja powers remain at full power, and people won't spot him as a target. This is definitely one of my favorite LP videos.
Wow, your review is really interestingö the atmosphere is great and actually I like how Joe made all slow while the song has a lot of speed (contrast) but this is definately one of my least favourite LP videos lol. New Divide and The Catalyst make the end, while from the inside is the top (even if that video is really similar to the catalyst) and yes I need to watch it on our 52inch tv..(+ Mtv in HD) I believe im gonna die I would have loved it more if they used coloured paint than sand but have you reconized that the guitars are actually vaporizing? I saw some black drops falling off the bass..which looks really really cool.
Anyone catch what equipment Joe is using in this video ? i think there's a good shot around 1:40.... i believe thats a Vestax PMC-05... correct me if im wrong.... and there's no good shots of the turntables... too blurry... so i can't make those out... thanks guys Video was awesome... needs more outro ! ... hopefully there's enough footage they cut to make an extended version with the full song
