I already thought releasing 5 singles from 12 song albums was overkill, with there being 9 actual songs here it'd be pretty ridiculous. Combined with LP supposedly not wanting/caring to be as commercial as before. But I suppose WB is in control of that end.
I believe they mean not wanting to be commercial in terms of their sound. It'd be rather silly of them to say they don't want to make money. Even though there's only nine songs and the songs are longer, that doesn't mean there should be any less singles. The radio stations don't care how long the songs are, as long as they're within reason (read: probably not much over 5 minutes, max). And, if they want, they can edit them for the radio.
I actually think 'When They Come For Me' will NOT be a single anytime soon, because its pretty vulgar for radio, 'Try to catch up BEEEEEP" 10 times in the song wouldn't sound appealing, and frankly, doesn't have the same effect as 'MOTHAFUCKAAAA' I'm thinking 'Waiting For The End', mainly because the reggae/hip-hop/rock fusion would appeal to a larger audience :]
Again. Listen to the current radio hip hop hits, and tell me which ones DON'T have to be censored. Provided, it wouldn't sound as appealing if its censored, but I'm sure the clean version of the record has a proper edit so it doesn't sound choppy like a lot of other censored radio tracks do.
I would LOVE to see Blackout as a single, just so it can shut the "LP has gone too soft" whiners up. Even though the second half of the song would only cause more frustration and controversy. Personally I enjoy that part just as much.
Every song on ATS is worthy of being a single. Yes- even Empty Spaces is better than Bieber, Gaga, Swift....
