Submarine Sonar and Heartbeats

Am I the only one who noticed you can hear these things throughout the album? You can hear the sonar in The Requiem, and the end of Robot Boy leading into Jornada Del Muerto. For the heartbeats you can hear them in The Radiance and Burning In The Skies, and Jornada Del Muerto.

Do you think they have any significance or do you think they are just there to help tie the songs better.

 

I heard the sonar but I cannot hear any heartbeats.

 

I love the heartbeats..they gave me the feeling to hear my own heartbeat!

I fucking love the heartbeats. It feels like you're experiencing a chaotic world, not only from the outside (cf the catalyst video and the speeches) but from the inside too.
