I haven't seen most of those movies, I would like too, Oscar nominees are usually very good. The Village should win, very good movie. The Passion of the Christ? Wow.... that's interesting.
Who I think will win, not who I want though. lol i was telling my friend that Phantom of the Opera would get an oscar nomination for best art direction and cinematography and i was correct! w00t!!
I think The Aviator is overated. I haven't seen it, mind you, but alot of my friends hated it. Tom Cruise should've gotten nominated for 'Collateral' if Jamie Foxx did.
It's really nothing special. In fact, I think they're only doing this to kiss Scorcese's ass for the all the times he went home empty-handed, which is why The Aviator will take Best Picture & Director. The movie is summer blockbuster fanfare in the wrong season. Dunno about Tom Cruise, but Collateral was Foxx's first good material to work off of and I'm glad it got noticed. He'll definetly get Best Actor for Ray. And... The Village got a nomination for its score! I told you guys how incredible the composition was, but nobody bothered to listen.
Yeah. I just think Tom did a great job portraying a bad guy. It's not his best work mind you (read: the last samurai), but he still did an awesome job being an edgy character like Victor was meant to be played. Jamie did an awesome job in that movie too. If Tom was a supporting actor in that movie, he would've gotten a nomination.
Yeah, Tom definetly put in the effort and it shows very well. Unfortunetly, the Academy general likes to select from characters who go through an arc of emotions and Victor stays relatively the same for the movie. If Mann & Cruise had opted for Victor to have a nervous breakdown or show more sentiment it might have gotten better notice. But then again, it's no fun when the killer is crying
