After some 9 years without releasing new material they're back with "By and Down" (officially streaming here), which will feature on the upcoming greatest hits album "360". This seems to be more a studio venture that the band had not much say in, at least from how MJK was talking about it. Out November 19th. The other [much more exciting] release - APC Stone & Echo/ Trifecta - A 5 disc box set (actual box set is sold out, but it's being released digitally) with a CD/DVD of the performance at Red Rocks in 2011, and a 3 disc set of each album (Mer de Noms, Thirteenth Step, eMotive) all live from the 2010 tour which includes live versions of "By & Down", "Ashes to Ashes" & "Diary of a Love Song". Out November 29th.

Can I just say, I love APC but I've heard a couple say (and I generally agree) does a band with 2 studio albums and a cover album really need a greatest hits album? Seems a bit unnecessary.
Semi-related but Maynard will be back on Joe Rogan's podcast in the next few weeks. MJK (& Tool in general) rarely does the interview thing, so it's very cool he's willing to sit down and shoot the shit with Rogan (and Mark Maron)for 2.5~3 hours. The first go around: Yeah, like I was saying, from the way MJK was talking the band don't seem to have much say in it.
I like the "new" song, but you can hear that Keenan is almost 50. He doesn't sing the higher notes anymore, Tool and APC already kinda adjusted their setlists. Maybe he shouldn't drink as much wine, but whatever. ^^ I guess you can't really do anything about it. Still a very good song, but it climaxes more in an instrumental way.
