    Here are a few options:
Use Norton Anti-virus to track and eliminate the thing. I think you can get a free trial from their website.

You can also try restoring your computer to an earlier date (assuming you're operating on XP).

Lastly (and most effective), download hijack-this, make a log of all processes and post it in a techie forum. I used DaniWeb (or DaniIT, something like that) when I was having some issues.

All Programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore

You should be able to adjust your computer's settings by date (although this doesn't guarantee it will "delete" the virus, maybe just render it inactive).

I strongly recommend the third option, though.

Boot in safe mode to run the virus scan; AVG can't remove the virus if it's "running" on the system and safe mode prevents that.

Press F8 repeatedly before the Windows XP screen appears when booting.

He dropped it in the vault.. tis still in there and i scan daily and nothing bad a month after :)

But you people who are more experienced with dealing with windows and viruses can carry on :)

I use AVG and zone alarm lol

edit/ we also have like 2 firewalls lol... one for this computer and one solely for all the others on the home network :)

A firewall isn't going to do a damn thing to prevent viruses.

Funny, when I got Windows XP (2001), I turned off every Windows security setting, got rid of the firewall and didn't install any anti-virus software and I've had no viruses since ^_^

It just all matters on what you click on. Don't click on stupid crap and don't download anything dumb. It's easy not to get a virus :p

I agree, however, viruses can spread in less direct means (ie: without visiting websites/downloading entertainment).

You should probably scanned your HD just in case.

    You're kidding ... right?
    Oh, the sweet irony...
Hmm, you probably have a backdoor or keylogger or something on your computer, which you probably haven't noticed.

As the other's have suggested, boot into safe mode [F8 while booting up], and run a virus scanner [I'd suggest NOD32].

Firewalls are a pain in the ass. And it wouldn't even do anything anyway.
