My opinion of this is majorly impacted by how Amy Lee looks. She was gorgeous during the Fallen era, and my opinion leaned in that direction. During The Open Door... yeah, no. Sounds shallow, but for some reason there's that correlation. I loved Fallen. The Open Door, not so much.
I'm looking forward to this, but I'm still not buying that she chilled out. It really bugs me in fact because she's like the famous equivalent of this girl I used to be friends with who was just this fucking diva and drama queen. Regardless I'll try the album out; music is music.
Maybe they really are the same person, and you're just living in a gothed up real life version of Hannah Montana.
That didn't take long. It still sucks their best music was coming out when she was like 18, but hopefully they can turn things around. Everything before Fallen was their best stuff.
Ah, Anywhere. I think that was a Ben Moody song. Odd that all my favorite Evanescence songs are Moody songs, yet I hate his recent new band. We Are the Fallen I think, right?
Yeah it truly confounds me, like separately neither group is that phenomenal (I didn't think WATF was *bad* but it certainly was bland) yet together they somehow were dynamite. Fail.
Not really an Ev fan anymore but I was looking forward to Amy Lee's take on trip-hop. ;" Now, with Nick Rasculinecz who's made the upcoming album more of a "rock record", it'll probably resemble "Fallen" and "The Open Door" a little more than I'd like And the drama that seems to pervade everything with Evanescence, there doesn't seem to be any shortage of it just yet, and I've no doubt it'll play a huge role in the lyrical content.
I really liked Fallen back in the day. I wasn't to pleased with The Open Door though. I'll remain a little cautious with this one, I hope nothing but the best for them but we shall see.
She always looked like an old hag outside the music videos. Anyway this'll either be quite good or a huge failure. As I'm not particularly looking forward to it maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
It's been what, like 5 years since the last album? And we LP fans have the audacity to complain!? As an Evanescence fan I'm highly looking forward to this album as I thought The Open Door was a near masterpiece in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, the Fallen is an absolute classic (one of the best debut albums of the 00's for sure) But I kinda like The Open Door more. I think it was a wise move on Amy's part to split from Ben Moody. I kinda see The fallen Like I do with LP's Meteora in many ways. It was great, but It was kinda watered down compared to the earlier stuff. The Reason I like TOD more is that its more experimental, heavier, darker. Terry Balesimo's guitar playing is phenomenal on that record. I hope he continues to shine this time around.
