Hey all, Was talking to Derek on MSN about something i got in mind. The `Serious Chat` forum is a large part of the forum and pretty established etc.. in itself and has staged a heck of a lot of small discussions, some over and over again so it seems. On past sites and sites of mates iv run `organised debates` where a subject is picked each week, a time is given a week in advance saying when it will start etc.. and users will come give their view on that topic, comment on other users views etc... this may sound like any other topic and pointless, but from past experience i can tell you it isnt and has always proved extremely interesting. Just an idea anyhow, id like to see it. Any opinions from you lot ?
Fine, set the date and topic..but try not to pick a topic that could be really personal to some people (racism being one).
I think racism is a fine topic for debate, as in regards to how its percieved, the laws around it, crimes relating to it, iv read many racism debates and they have been extremely interesting, but naturally some views my upset some users and if its not wanted it wont be discussed. Thanks for agreeing to it, im sure it`ll work out. I will need mods on there aswell incase things do happen to go out of hand, although im sure it wont happen lol Ill arrange a date and topic now
Hmmm how's this, create a new thread with a poll on which topic the forum members would like to debate on the most. Whichever topic gets the most votes after a certain amount of time, will be the subject of the organized debate. Sound good?
nice idea karl but let the topic go on... because some people here [like me] are extremely slow, so they wont get to say anything.
http://www.lpassociation.com/forums/index....=12&t=10484&hl= Use that topic now. It has a poll, and room for suggentions and that
I think this is more apropriate for the chatroom. Having a live forum session is kind of similar to any forum on serious chat, it's just that people have more spread out time to post in the regular serious chat. We should have announcments for chatroom chats on these serious topics.
thats a great idea, glenn. [does it piss people off when i dont use capital letters?]. but i dont think you can have a chat room on forums. not that anybody asked for my opinion.
