When a member chooses to be anonymous, when you look at the online list, do they show up as a guest, or are they just void of every documentation of them being on other than the board saying that there is an anonymous member present?

Sorry if that sounds silly, but I was just curious. (I'm a very curious person. ;) )

I think it's option B. They just show up as a member (I think).

I've been wondering the same thing too :p

...and yes, you certainly are a curious one ;) Guess what it is yet?

They don't show up on the list at all. Only Admins [or whatever staff member has the 'can view annoymous members' permission checked] can see if you're annoymous [you'll show up with a * beside your name on the online list], but otherwise normal members won't see you.

Yes. They can see a snippet of it in the SQL Toolbox, and they can see the full version of it in the their mySQL control panel off the boards [I think only Derek has access to this, although don't quote me on this].

So PM does not mean Private Message, it means Personal Message.

And I'm pretty sure the same applies to vB too.

    I've got access too ;)

So in short, yes, we can look at your PMs. No, we don't look at your PMs. But, if we suspect something is taking place over PMs that shouldn't be, then we will look. Fortunatley, this has not happened. Same goes for vB as well. We can, but we won't unless deemed necessary.

Oh crap. Looks like my PMs to Minus Xero will have to stop.

But in all seriousness, what all applies to what we can't speak of on PM? Just the things that are in the normal board? Because I might have possibly pointed someone into a direction of a DeFacto torrent once.

Guess it really depends on the circumstance, but pretty much, anything you wouldn't do in public, don't do in PMs either.

I do some strange things in public.

But in the interest of not further incriminating myself, I'll just say "okay."
