Anyone else think the 'Bodies upon the gears' part of Wretches & Kings

is really out of place and corny, or just me? I hear it and immediately feel like they tacked it on there just to imply the lyrics carried more weight than they did. Maybe I'm just biased to how super badass and awesome it was when Fear Factory used it.

What you interpreted as necessary to add meaningless meaning to the lyrics, I interpreted as clarifying what the song is about and making it more boss. I get annoyed listening to the speech though to get to the song over and over, however; I ended up just making a copy of the song in my iTunes without the speech

 

Sampling any kind of speech is corny and unoriginal.

 

I mentioned this when the track came out, the same speech has been used too many times in songs before, that it actually made me laugh the first time I heard it. Fear Factory, Cog, From Monument To Masses, Maybeshewill and Mouth Of The Architect are just a few...

 

I haven't heard the speech before in my life so it sounded fresh in WnK and it fit. But it does get kinda repetitive when you listen to the track over and over. Wnk itself is my least played song on the album.

 

I'm not that keen on the song anyway, but I don't know if it's been used a lot better anywhere else that I've heard it.

 

It's my least favorite song on the album. Still, I never actually skip it.

 

Not me guys. That speech is like the icing on the cake for me. It grabs your attention. and I actually love that its repeated at the end, mainly as its the fuller version, when the music suddenly drops out and Mario shouts out With the words "...UNLESS YOUR FREE, THE MACHINE WILL BE PREVENTED FROM WORKING AT ALL!" and everything suddenly comes back in so heavily. so freakin powerful!!!

 

I think it adds to the song.

 

But why must they add it twice?

The biggest disappointment of ATS is this song. Everything preceding the boring bridge is awesome, then the song blows. I agree with 1996_LP that when it's used to start, it makes it more powerful. But there's so many other things they could have done to finish this song off rather than slapping the speech back on.

 

I think this post was just an obvious excuse to post that video.

 

For the first thing you said, no one thinks it's useless. It's how they used it. And how can you possibly enjoy the ending?

 

And if you like something you shouldn't assume that people who don't do so because they don't get it.

 

Personally, I think it's awesome. W&K was an album high point for me.

 

Lol. I hope not. That song is not good at all imo.

 

Because they couldn't fit the whole speech that they wanted to play into the intro of the song. The repetitiveness and the continuation of the speech emphasises the point of not only the speech but the song and conjoining factors between the song and the speech.
