And if they return, they make it crappier Yes, Family Guy...i'm talking to you.
I thought last week's Family Guy was hilarious.
I thought last week's Family Guy was hilarious.
I think that Family Guy is funnier now than it ever was. I'm not saddened by the loss of Arrested Development. It was a ridiculously stupid show.
I thought last week's Family Guy was hilarious.
Ok, last week's was funny...but this season is less funnier then Season 3 (their high point IMO)
Oddly enough, today at work I was discussing this show with one of the customers who had never seen it but was buying the first season on DVD for her husband. Baader-Meinhof syndrome, anyone?
I was incredibly saddened over this. There's 8 more episodes to air and then it's done. The other episodes will appear on the Season 3 DVD (which sells amazing totals). Mitch Hurwitz, show creator, will ship the show to other networks. I think there's a good chance of it being picked up. NBC or ABC, most likely. The funniest show on television. It's too bad nobody would give it a chance. Once again, the scheduling geniuses at FOX put it up against a highly rated show: Monday Night Football. Last year, it was Desperate Housewives. Before that? Alias. All it needed was a good slot and better promotion.
FOX really isn't to blame. They stuck by it for 2 seasons, even when it was drawing bad numbers. Basically all of the days of the week have huge shows on those nights, so one way or another, AD would still draw in the 2.0s like it always has. It's not that FOX cancels all the good shows. It's that people don't watch the good shows, therefore they're cancelled? Arrested Development, good show, but gets around 2.3s and whatnot. Stacked, bad show, but gets 3.5s or higher. It's simple.
I think what lead to the downfall of AD is that it was too smart. People tune in to Fox to watch toilet-humour comedy. Arrested Development was just like Seinfeld, it was cancelled early because it was too offbeat. There's also the numerous storylines, clever humour, and vague references to older episodes that made this show so intelligent, and eventually crippled it. You also need to see an episode numerous times to really catch everything that was said. This comedy was a laugh-numerous-times-a-minute type of show--for those who followed it regularly. Unforutnately, not enoguh people were willing to get Arrested. People who joined the show too late in a season were confused and eventually frustrated. And others tuned in expecting something different from what they got. I can only hope that with all the critics praise, and a better network, that AD can truely thrive. How can Hope & Faith and George Lopez stay on the air when gems like this are in the rough? That being said, did anyone see last Mondays episode? The Godzilla references were amazing! !
