Hi guys. This is the best album I have ever heard, just leaked yesterday already gave it 10 listens, it's a masterpiece and this band will crush the world right now. Any A7x fan here? what are your thoughts on the album?
Gonna have to check it out Btw I already made an A7X thread a while back. Merging them would be a good idea. http://lpassociation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39139&highlight=avenged+sevenfold
iTunes are streaming it right now. http://search.itunes.apple.com/WebO...gedsevenfold?wmgref=https://www.facebook.com/
I think it's my favorite A7X album. It's definitely the most consistent in terms of quality. I feel that other albums have better songs, but Hail to the King is much more consistent. The intro for Requiem is fucking legit. However, nothing beats songs like Second Heartbeat or A Little Piece of Heaven.
this album blew my mind. can't wait to see some of this songs live in a few months, they are fantastic live aswell. I hope more people on LPA checks out this thread and listens to this album, I can assure you, you won't be dissapointed!
Damn, I loved this! This band delivered once again. If it is as good as it is now in some weeks, it will definitely be in my top10 records of the year.
I listened to about half of it this morning. Requiem is my favorite track so far. This album has quite the Judas Priest influence, I've noticed.
Personally, I cannot really respect the band for how blatantly they plagiarized other musicians work. Critically speaking, the songs sound as if the band literally pieced together classic rock and metal songs and coined it off as original work. All that being said, as a fan of A7X, it's quite an enjoyable listen. http://www.metalsucks.net/2013/08/2...-avenged-sevenfolds-hail-to-the-king-borrows/
I read that article and for me, a lot of what the guy is saying is really a stretch. I missed the point where being inspired by someone's music or art to make something of your own became plagerism.
There's a massive difference between inspiration and plagiarism, and in my opinion, the amount of similarities between the band's new album and classic metal/rock songs is much closer to plagiarism than inspiration. For me, "This Means War" encompasses what I'm talking about. Anyone who's heard "Sad But True" will agree that the similarity in the music and even in the vocal delivery is staggering. However, I really do enjoy the album, it's catchy and dope and energetic, but I just can't lie to myself and say that these songs don't sound extremely similar to some classics.
So the thing about "This Means War," the guitar riff is not a blatant note by note rip off. Even though it has a basic drum beat, again it is not the same beat or fills, I still don't think the song was intended as everyone is taking it. If the fills were the same, and the riff was as well, I would give that to you(*ahem* Kid Rock *ahem*). To me the song still sounds more like Avenged Sevenfold than it does Metallica.
I totally agree with you about the song sounding more A7X than Metallica, I guess I worded my opinions wrong with my use of "blatant plagiarism" . I feel a more accurate critique would be to say that the album is "heavily influenced" by classic metal and rock rather than "blatantly plagiarizing" it. At the same time, the fact that you pointed out that the songs on the album sound more A7X than any of the influences really clicked it for me, thanks
Intended or not, the verse melodies are a few notes away from being the same exact thing as "Sad But True", anybody who has heard both songs can attest to that. "This Means War" is probably my least favorite song on the album anyways, I love the ones that they put their own unique spin on...like Requiem and Acid Rain.
