Title says it all: Which bands/artists did you, for whatever reason, initially write off but later began to enjoy?

The first band that comes to mind for me is Arcade Fire. Maybe I was listening to too much metal and hardcore at the time, but I remember thinking they were utterly boring when I first heard them.

Fast forward to 2010, and I've done a complete 180 on the band. The Suburbs is a beast of an album. Still not digging Neon Bible that much, but Funeral is pretty sweet, too.

Birds of Tokyo is a pretty big one for me. I was completely enthralled with Karnivool (Still am, If I am honest with myself. lol) and when I listened to Birds of Tokyo I couldn't stand them at all. Fast forward about a year, I'm listening to Pandora and one of their songs comes on. I truly enjoyed it and I was shocked to see it was them. So I got a copy of their acoustic album and have never regretted it. Their self-titled is in the top ten from 2010 for me.

Definitely Karnivool. First head them in 2005 and just thought "meh", they're ok. A year later they turned out to be one of my favourite bands.

I hated My Chemical Romance years ago but 'The Black Parade' and 'Danger Days...' changed my opinion of them to a favourable one.

I disliked Panic! at the Disco for a while before falling in love with them.

I really despised Death Cab for Cutie and Bright Eyes for the longest time, but now they're among my favorite bands at the moment. Both band's new albums are killer, in particular "The People's Key" by Bright Eyes. Totally not a bullshit folk album again, and Death Cab's kind of pushes their limits and boundaries as well. That's exciting.

Surprisingly, the band I remember writing off before was Skillet, but mostly because I never listened to them yet and an idiot made a stupid Wiki edit putting them down as a "Satanist band before" (being precociously stupid, I listened). Also, I thought they were going to be like other Christian bands I listened to.

Fast forward a year after that (it was around 2008, I believe) and Skillet's my favorite Christian band and DANGEROUSLY close to LP as my favorite band ever (like I would say, they're about 0.000000001% behind LP). A Linkin Park-Skillet tour is all I want.

When I was "very" young, Simple Plan was definitely my "top of the world".
But now they are in the earth's core whenever I try to revive them.

At that time, I hate Muse with passion. Now, I kinda like them a little bit, I might love them after I pass my current "Cinematic Music" obsession.

Death Cab for Cutie. I originally wrote them off as just some boring indie band. Turns out they were just some mindblowingly awesome indie band.

Enter Shikari for me. I really didn't like what I heard at first and I ignored anything associated with them. Now, on the other hand, I love them. I just can't get enough and have pretty much their full discography

The Beatles. I didn't like them until I actually tried to listen to some songs.

Same here. Saw them on Saturday night and they blew my mind, absolutely incredible.

I also used to like Coldplay, even paid 150 overpriced $ to go see them once.

Now i want my $150 back cos I realise they're pretentious twats who write a lot of filler songs.

Oh yeah, I guess Coldplay would be another one. I can directly place the blame on my ex-girlfriend for turning my opinion around on Coldplay & Death Cab. I've always liked Bright Eyes secretly.
