Yes it is. Fungus Amongus was released independently. Enjoy Incubus was an EP. I was talking about full-length major record label debuts.
It's just debut period. But if you want to go the major label debut, that's fine. I don't think it's fair, 'cuz the band has time to get used to their sound and mold it. Whereas just their debut is them starting out, and turning out great means the band doesn't really need practice. Don't know if that made sense.
Saosin-Self-Titled Trivium-Ember to Inferno That's all I can think of. And yes, I know Saosin's self-titled album isn't their first one.
De Loused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta. Give Up by The Postal Service. Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath. The College Dropout by Kanye West.
Damageplan-New Found Power (this is a bit unfair, lmfao.) Pantera-Cowboys From Hell (they call it their debut, so whatev) Metallica-Kill 'Em All Children of Bodom-Something Wild Strapping Young Lad-Heavy As A Really Heavy Thing Comeback Kid-Turn It Around Alexisonfire-S/T Led Zeppelin-I all of these albums, however, are nothing compared to.... Death-Scream Bloody Gore the best fucking debut ever, IMO.
nine inch nails- pretty hate machine. not half as good as downward spiral or broken, but pretty hate machine was just the start of reznor's stranglehold on people with his emotions.
Coheed and Cambria; Second Stage Turbine Blade Audioslave; S/T Slipknot; S/T Gorillaz; S/T Thats about all I can think of right now. Oh, and Mudvayne; L.D. 50
I'm going to have to agree with Will and Ant, 30 Seconds To Mars' debut was phenomenal. Alexisonfire's eponymous debut was superb, too. City and Colour's 'Sometimes' is amazing. But Dallas hasn't put out anything since then. Muse's "Showbiz" is a real rocker, too.
