I stopped reading the thread at that point.

The best "new" guitarist is Buckethead. Although if you know anything about him you know he's been around for 20 plus years. His new material(2005 and up) is so different though, that we'll call it 'new guitarist'. He is such a prolific composer. I think he released like 30 albms in 2007 alone. Listen to Soothsayer, Whitewash, Brewer In The Air. Amazing songs!

Besides, you guys are saying people like John5, John Petrucci, and Tom Morello, who are no where near new.

Did anyone say the guys from Avenged Sevenfold? If so, I hope you get hit by a bus.

Andy Mckee, anyone? He is talented and a good composer.

Guitarists that are in bands that I would say are the best new guitarists are Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge, Jasin Todd formerly of Shinedown(although he didn't showcase his talents often enough. Listen to the end of the solo of Save Me, good lord that is fast), Jon Donias of Shadows Fall. Also, John Frusciante of RHCP. He uses what he calls "Cool Chords" that no one really uses anymore. C shaped barre chords and such. And boy does his music have feeling.

As far as the coolest new guitarist, Adam Dutkiewicz. That man is the strangest looking, funniest bastard around. And he may just be the overlord of pinch harmonics.

Someone asked for videos, how about one of Mark Tremonti?

I'm the one who created the thread. I said I would accept 'new' as anyone who isn't a well established 'legend'. So some people mentioned Petrucci and Brian May, who gives a shit? I could say your suggestion of John Frusciante isn't anywhere near new.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. Don't come into a thread and start bashing others' views.

I would agree with Claudio and possibly Travis because they do brilliant work together. EDIT: Haha, I actually said Claudio and Travis earlier in this thread

These statements you made make everything else in your post completely irrelevant. Don't be a dick for the sake of being a dick. It doesn't make you cool and will get you looked down upon here. Make your opinions known, but don't shit on anyone else's.

Thanks for posting this! It is exactly what I had in mind!
After all, forums exist so that people post their opinions! A variety of opinions is the best thing to see! We cannot agree with everyone in here+for everything!
