    yeah....pretty much like you said..

But I will always enjoy the first star wars trilogy.....and besides, Star Wars was probably the best looking movie of its time..so you have to give it props for that.

Lord of the Rings was action packed.

And the remastered SW trilogy, especially those of the DVD sort, suck more than Paris Hilton on home video.

    star wars hands down

if it hadn't been for starwars lotr movies would hv never happened, or atleast been as good as they were
and if u read the expanded universe, star wars has a crap load of backstory too

Yes, because if Star Wars were never made back in the 70s, Tolkien would never write his epic saga (which begs for movie production) back in the 50s.

He's talking about the original Trilogy, stupid. It became a Saga when Phantom Menace was released.

    *sighs*

    Indeed.

The books were written over the span of the '30s, '40s and '50s. The movies were going to happen sooner or later. They just needed to have someone who understood the books well enough to make a movie out of them. They would've happened whether Star Wars existed or not.

lol, reading this made it so i had a real craving to watch Fellowship. haha so i am! i can't sleep anyway.

I have to say that i like LOTR better. A lot of my friends would not agree, but i'll say it.

I think Peter Jackson did an amazing job of really making the books exciting and bringing them to life.

    ----

 wow, i'm watching Fellowship right now...and i just realized that Galadrial is well over 3,000 years old....i mean wow!

You do realize that the movies would be like... 3 times LONGER if Jackson included EVERYTHING in the books. And I'm sure it'd be a hella boring movie.

When it comes to expanded material, LotR and SW have you covered. Lord of the Rings is only 3 books in a whole history of Middle-Earth, Upper-Earth, etc. and Star Wars has the Expanded Universe, which, as of now, leads up to 30 years after A New Hope. (THEY KILL CHEWBACCA!)

I wouldn't know... the first two were the only films other than SWAT that have made me fall asleep in a cinema.

Carrie Fisher in slave getup is hotter than Orlando Bloom as an elf. Period.

    I agree with you.

I've made it my life-long goal to read every piece of literature associated with Tolkien's Middle-Earth.

    I'm going to do it.

I've already gotten The Hobbit: Or, There and Back Again, The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Silmarillion covered.

I just have... around fifty more books to read.

You're just like Christopher Lee (Saruman), who makes it his goal to read LotR every year.

    I've read all the books...

    that you've read.
