The song is about suicide/hurting yourself, if you listen closely enough.

Chester jumps off a building, kills himself. But not before rocking out for three minutes.

I always thought it was about self-injury as well. It makes a lot of sense, and then it makes me wonder if Mike or anyone in the band ever did that when they were younger. It comes up in a lot of songs as well..Carousel, Part Of Me, etc..

    It does make you wonder..
But anyway, I knew it was about suicide, but WHY does he do it? Who are the other people in the video?

Heh, well, Mike wrote the song, so I would assume it would have been him that tried to commit suicide...

    Don't double post.

The song is about a friend of Mike who committed suicide. I'm 90% sure.

most likely LP is referring to suicide, hurting yourself, etc. But the general message is to break the habit of something you're doing which may be unhealthy. The other people in the video, like the girl, the druggie, and the couple, are just characters who have a difficult problem in their life and need to break that habit, hence the title of the song, "Breaking the Habit." Linkin Park once said in an interview that these extra characters were inspired by the fans they've met who mentioned how their lives were disappointing before they discovered LP music and how Linkin Park has helped them override these obstacles.

The song is about Mike's friend. Whether he commited suicide or hurt himself non-fatally is unknown.
