I feel like absolutely everyone fails to remember that Linkin Park have always taken 16-18 months to record an album. Meteora took 18 months. And I'm pretty sure ATS did too. The only difference between MTM to ATS and ATS to LT(besides the obvious sound differences) was how soon they returned to the studio between the two albums. Usually the band would tour for two years before heading back into the studio which is why it always took 3 years between albums. With the band no longer touring as often, they're returning to the studio quicker which is why these albums are coming out quicker. The band is still taking over a year and a half on the albums, they're just not touring a lot so the albums are being released quicker. Doesn't mean the work itself is being rushed. The band deliberately made LT a short firecracker record with high energy songs. That was the goal and that's exactly what the album was.
Yeah that's the main comment that has me hopeful for LP6. I just don't want another firecracker record.
Found this interview on chester Bennington Network.com : https://www.dropbox.com/s/fu21khjk1abor0h/1021FMMilwaukee.mp3 Chester briefly talk about the new record in it...here's the interesting part: Man, I'm still dubious about trusting those "heavier sound" statements from Chester, but damn, if it's true....
I'd love that, as long as it still had a fresh new sound to it. I don't want an exact replica of Minutes to Midnight, and I don't expect Linkin Park to do that.
I would love to see songs like No Roads Left, Across the Line, and Blackbirds on this new record. Just orchestral driven, heavy guitars, dark feel to it, MIKE SINGING...
If Mike sings, it's highly unlikely they will perform it frequently. Mike just not as consistently good at singing than he is at rapping. Take for instance, "Burning in the Skies". BITS was an international single off ATS and they performed it frequently but those performances we ranging from ok to not-so-ok. In "In My Remains", Mike does have a hard time singing his low parts in the bridge. I really like your suggestion, but if I want to see those kinds of songs live, Mike really has to work on his singing.
