good to see more people jumping on the witch house bandwagon. ultimately, it's what i've always wanted that genre to sound like.
some good tracks on there, but as far as Witch House goes, I like oOoOO and Salem. Wish Chino would do another Team Sleep record.
You're telling me if I gave you a remixed version of Bermuda Locket with some SALEM vocals pasted on top, you wouldn't think it'd fit properly? Ignoring Chino's voice, this is so witch house it hurts. Just really polished and smooth sounding, not choppy and grimey. Not all witch house sounds like SALEM, and not all SALEM sounds like witch house, brah.
I guess I'm not accustomed to witch house. Salem makes me feel filthy and evil. This just seems nothing like it. But I guess I don't know what defines witch house.
SALEM is definitely the best the genre has to offer (the mixtapes on their websites are great, check them out), but yeah, this isn't strictly witch house. A band like DE▲D VIRGIN would be your a-typical witch house group. Crosses more or less steals the iconography and some musical traits, and then meshes it with some Team Sleep like dreampop. A nice marriage of styles.
Well, things seem to be happening the way Chino wants it with this new project so far, so, hopefully, that will make him less hesitant to make more stuff with Team Sleep.
There's like 16 finished songs by Team Sleep he's sitting on. Said they'll be released as a few seperate EPs, and he wants to just "put it out there and whoever likes it, cool. We just want to make music because we like to do it, just doing it ourselves and utilizing the Internet." Which I think is a great line of thinking. I think the interview was with ON BLAST from the website the Hundreds.
Ah, right, yes -- and he's said that before as well, back in 2007 or 2008. But I think there's a good chance we'll actually see some Team Sleep EP's this time. There are melodic phrases in "Option" that remind me of "Deathblow" from Deftones' self-titled album; listening to compare, I realise the two songs are written in the same key. :"
Sol Invicto's EP was released as well, but you had to sign up for a mailing list to obtain it by legal means. I'm on said mailing list, but never got my own copy.
Gave this a listen to earlier today. Amazing work on the EP. Hopefully we will get a physical release soon.
Yeah I was gonna say... I mean this does sound awesome, but Team Sleep to me is like an unfulfilled childhood dream.
I'd say the same, sort of. I love the Team Sleep album to death, though, and I'm only really disappointed that I've not had the chance to see them live :"
Yooo this is too good! I gotta check out this dude's music. edit: Could someone upload the EP for me on sendspace? Thanks.
