Ok it's that time again! This time the album in question is MTM. It seems to me like it has the most mixed reactions out of all LP albums. Some people love it because it is the first time Linkin Park changed their sound. Others hate it because if the sound they chose for the album. What do you think? Let the world know below using one word! :chuck:

    Progressive.

Maybe not in music as a whole, but certainly for Linkin Park. This album seemed like the one that was the most fun for the guys during the recording process. Editing can be misleading, but watching the Making of Minutes To Midnight, I see for the first time 6 best friends challenging one another to create something different. Rick Rubin played a big role here changing the way they approached the creative process, from weekly band meetings to "donna-na's" replacing lyrics. Each member was entering the studio / Laurell house with new material, not solely relying on Mike. It seemed Mike was also stepping back a bit, allowing each member to bring a unique perspective. He also opened Chester up to the idea of having the others criticize the lyrics, which was new at the time. This could be the reason MTM features stronger lyrics than its predecessor. Also, it's impossible to gloss over the fact that without this album, the framework for creating A Thousand Suns (largely regarded as the band's best effort to date) would have never existed. Minutes To Midnight was extremely progressive for Linkin Park.

Overrated (but I'm glad it exists because it's a stepping stone for the next albums).
