People are excited because there wasn't any proof Bethesda was going to announce Fallout 4 at E3 this year. This has confirmed it. It's definitely a surprise.
Games the size and scope of Fallout or The Elder Scrolls are never going to be completely free of bugs when they're released for one reason or another. But that said, I'm sure Bethesda's created a new engine (or at least vastly improved the Skyrim engine) for Fallout 4. (Oddly enough, I was reading about the Creation Engine [the one used for Skyrim and presumably for Fallout 4] and the devs at Bethesda said if they weren't able to develop the Creation Engine, Skyrim wouldn't have come out until the "next generation," meaning Xbox One and PlayStation 4, which means Fallout 4 would've been even more delayed. I'm glad that didn't happen.)
This is the perfect timing for an announcement for me, just this week I've been playing F3 again. One of the best games ever, probably my favorite story wise. Expecting a 2016 release. A 2015 release would be too good to be true, but I can dream. I wonder what info they'll reveal once the countdown is done, like if they're going to save the release date info for E3 or something.

An exciting trailer, though I was hoping for actual gameplay. Looks like they're saving all the good stuff for E3.
I'm surprised at how similar it looks to Fallout 3, not that it's a bad thing. FUCK YES! I've waited 5 years!
A quick props to Bethesda for using what appears to be in-engine footage for the reveal trailer rather than some pre-rendered over-hype generator.
