Some of my favorites, I'm a big fan of MtM (Except for "I jump in my mind and summon the rhyme I'm dumping") and ATS' writing.
Robot Boy: "You say you're not gonna fight 'Cause no one would fight for you And you think there's not enough love And no one to give it to And you're sure you've hurt for so long You've got nothing left to lose So you say you're not gonna fight 'Cause no one would fight for you" "Hold on, the weight of the world Will give you the strength to go" the last line of lyrics is so important to me because it helped me overcome depression, suicidal thoughts, and to know that linkin park was telling me to hold on, it saved my life basically........
All of them. Except for the super cheesy/cringey,shitty songs *cough* Crawling, One Step Closer *cough* -HT and Meteora are for when you're in a bad mood and need to release some of the angry emotionz. "Forgotten", "Breaking the Habit", "Figure 0.9" are my three favorite lyrically from this era. -MTM is for the actual human fears/emotions the songs are concerned with (failure: "Given Up"; being forgotten, which is a big fear of mine="Leave Out All the Rest"; Frustration/not being good enough: 'Bleed it Out"; Extreme loss: "Shadow of the Day" and "Valentine's Day"; Needing to change: "What I've Done"; War's affect on civilians: "Hands Held High"; Corruption: "No More Sorrow"; Remorse/Forgiveness: "In Between", which is an extremely underrated song; Being used: "In Pieces", which hits home pretty hard for me; Abandonment: "The Little Things Give You Away".) -ATS has the brilliant symbolism and metaphorical lyrics that literally tell this awesome story in my head everytime. -LT went back to the more personal subjects of MTM, except it seemed to focus more on dealing with problems wheras MTM and the older albums focused soley on the problems themselves. -THP has an ATS style to its lyricism that focused more on sociological ideas such as oppression and violence, albeit not as elegantly as ATS (I'm looking at you UIG ) All in all, probably the second reason why LP is my favorite band is because of the lyrics. No matter what song, they all seem to relate to me in some way, and hell, they're relatable to just about anyone. To me, they have a song for every emotion, even happiness (The Messenger and LPU8 )!
Glad to hear you're better. Anyway, I don't pay much attention to Linkin Park's lyrics, but the "hold on, it's not where it goes / it's where it can lead you to" line from the optional vocal take from Robot Boy has always been one of my favorites.
Mike's And One verse Hell, Hybrid Theory EP has their best lyrics out of their old releases, Forgotten off Hybrid Theory, Breaking the Habit and Nobody's Listening off Meteora, Bleed It Out and Hands Held High off MTM, Waiting for the End and The Catalyst off ATS, Lost In the Echo and Powerless off LT, Wastelands and ALITS off THP come to my head off the top.
My favorite Linkin Park lyrics are from No Laundry. GODDAMMIT I'M NOT GONNA DO NO LAUNDRY Most relatable LP song ever
Definetly Breaking The Habit. This song gives me strenght to stop some addictions that I have. (It's nothing to do with drugs)
"Try the ketchup, motherfucker!" Okay, that's an old joke, I know. But here are some of my actual favorites: "I wanna find something I've wanted all along, somewhere I belong". Like a few others said, all of Robot Boy is amazing, too. Pretty much every lyric in Numb, because that song can relate to pretty much everyone. Also, My December and The Messenger have some great lyrics. Then there's Castle of Glass: "Take me down to the river bend, Take me down to the fighting end. Wash the poison from off my skin, Show me how to be whole again." Linkin Park definitely has a lot of amazing lyrics, too many to name.
This line from Roads Untraveled "Weep not for roads untraveled Weep not for paths left alone" is one I think of often. What I've Done and Robot Boy's lyrics are solid.
