does anyone like this band? Except for "One Thing" which has been overplayed here...they're a good band! My favorite songs are def. "Stay in Shadow" and "Above"
I didn't like them when I bought their S/T CD but I thought they were alright, songs like "Good Times" caught my ear but the CD wasn't good IMO. Mark sent me the Greyest of Blue Skies CD and that CD is awesome, I love that CD. They're a pretty good band.
Finger Eleven often rival Linkin Park as one of my favorite bands. I don't know one song, other than "One Thing" (which is still a good song, although brutally overplayed), that I don't like. Every song is incredible, in my opinion, especially on their first two albums, but notably on 'The Greyest of Blue Skies'. They're an amazing live band too. Scott is a great lyricist/vocalist, Rich is a machine on the drums, and James, Sean, and Rick all do amazing jobs on guitars. The most talented band Canada has produced. I love that band. Everyone nears to hear 'The Greyest of Blue Skies'. I have introduced over a dozen people to this album and not one has disliked it.
I'll be honest when I say that I had to get used to the S/T album...it's damn good though! So is the other two...like Mark said "The Greyest of Blue Skies" is an album that needs to be heard, cause it's amazing! BTW, I was watching the video for Above on Launch...It shocked me to find out that Scott had hair and glasses! Looked like me there for a second!
Finger Eleven is one of the first bands that I really got into, thanks to Mark. I had heard "First Time" on accident and loved it, and asked him if he heard of them. He sent me The Greyest Of Blue Skies and I was pretty much hooked. I'm still looking to buy Tip and The Greyest Of Blue Skies, too. I own Finger Eleven – actually, I own two copies, because one is autographed and put away. I saw them live in March and they blew me away, even though they played a pretty short set (that lacked "First Time" and "Drag You Down"!). Overall they're one of my all-time favorite bands.
Tip is a better album then The greyest of blue skies IMO. Seemed more creative. I love Finger Eleven live, they are so amazing. The guitarists are absolutely insane.
I don't think it's produced as well, I like how TGOBS is more clean-cut.
Yeah but Tip seems more alternative based than The Greyest of Blue Skies. TGOBS is more darker and little more aggressive. And the S/T one seems more melodic yet it's still Finger Eleven! Then again, I think it's funny that they were called the Rainbow Butt Monkeys. Imagine what MTV would think of that name
Exactly how I discovered them. Mark told some great things about them a while ago and it got me curious. Downloaded the three albums on Bit Torrent and loved them. I'm planning to get at least Finger Eleven and The Greyest Of Blue Skies for Christmas. And my favourite song of them is definitely Thousand Mile Wish
I don't think it's produced as well, I like how TGOBS is more clean-cut.
I think that's why I like Tip, because it wasn't as clean cut, it was the first album since The Rainbow Butt Monkeys and everything new just came out. BTW, just you know Finger Eleven, when they were the Rainbow Butt Monkeys, were compared to The Red Hot Chilli Peppers? I can hardly imagine that now.

The Rainbow Butt Monkeys were a joke band. Well, they weren't doing comedy songs but they weren't serious at all. I can see why they were compared to RHCP. RBM were more of a party band. Finger Eleven is their super serious sides.
Finger Eleven rocks. The first songs I heard by them were Suffocate and Drag You Down, and both are still by far the best songs I've ever heard out of them. The S/T wasn't so great, but it was a different direction musically, so I can respect that. TGOBS is still the best, though.
They're not exactly popular, they just have this one radio hit and about 50 hidden gems on their albums.
They're not exactly popular, they just have this one radio hit and about 50 hidden gems on their albums.
Oh--lol. I always hear that name so I figured they were popular. I checked out their site--heard "One Thing" and now I know who you all are talking about. I really like that song. I don't mind it being over played. The singer kind of sounds like Fred Durst.
Please tell me you didn't just say that.
I was thinking the same thing...god, don't even compare Fred Durst to Scott!
I have to say that I really don't like their self-titled album, except for Thousand Mile Wish. But Greyest of Blue Skies kicks. My favorite song is Broken Words.
I was thinking the same thing...god, don't even compare Fred Durst to Scott!
I didn't mean he sounded like Fred in all of his songs. I just meant he sounded like Fred in "One Thing". (Just a little.) Plus, what's so bad about sounding like Fred Durst? He's not that bad.. is he? :wth:
