I love the song already but I think this song is every reason why LP SHOULDN'T take this direction too far. And what I mean by that is this: LP is pretty talented with dabbling in electronic/synth elements for a rock band, but you put them up on a track produced by someone who regards doing EDM as his bread and butter and LP's forays on Living Things sound pretty weak.

I love the sound. It has a nice "stadium song" sound like The Catalyst & New Divide, but come on, people like Aoki do this sound so much better than Linkin Park I honestly wouldn't want Mike to try lol. I personally think LP is a little scared to embrace the "stadium" sound like Muse has always done and Coldplay just started to do on the past few albums. Songs like Powerless & I'll Be Gone (especially) should be huge songs live.

I think A Light That Never Comes is a way for LP to embrace that side of the band without feeling like they sold out to that sound because it's collaboration.

I don't even know why you mention this.

You know it's a marketing ploy yet you have all these feelings. Feeeeelings. Feeeeeeeeeeeeeelings for a marketing ploy.

Again, I don't see why you mentioned this.

    Well okay then.

A little bit disappointed. Seems like I'm gonna like the live version more than this studio version.

Its not that. It's about disliking it in a way that isn't disrespecting to the band. A lot of people go like "WTF is the band doing" and overreact. Some go to the extent and say the band has "sold out" or some shit. That's whats not necessary. I like the track cause its somethings different from them but I also hope the band won't get too inspired by these tracks for their next album. There is a way to say it without sounding butthurt which some people fail to see.
And please don't say that THIS is why you don't like to admit you're an LP fan in public. That has no connection whatsoever.

Anyone find themselves repeating the preview over and over again like I have?

"When I was young they told me, they said
make your bed you lie in that bed"

Am I mishearing it or is that the actual line?

Yes that seems to be the actually line.

Also what I love about the video preview is that it shows the whole band working on it, so it isn't just a Mike and Chester thing it seems like.

While I've played the preview over multiple times and am digging it... isn't Mike tired of rapping about kings yet?

wasn't that obvious though? Mike said multiple times that they won't repeat something thats been already done on their records. Same goes for everything that's out there too.

I just want to say that this isn't dubstep! It's more of an electro house song. Just because it has distorted growls and wobbles doesn't mean it's dubstep.

The interesting part is that songs such as Blackout, LOST IN THE ECHO, or LIES GREED MISERY have far more pronounced dubstep/EDM influences yet no one ever complains about that as much as they do about The Catalyst.

Of course it was obvious but then there's the group of whiners that can't see through beyond their noses, freaking out about LP going EDM FOREVER AND EVER, OMGZ I HATE DUBSTEPZ, SKRILLEX SUX.

It's aimed to that particular demography.

Those lyrics are laughably bad but I like the instrumental. Very glitchy.

Chester's part reminds me of A Thousand Suns, the voice effects I mean. Will everyone hate me if I say I want an album like this? With better lyrics of course

I can't say I wouldn't want one. It's very different and I like that! Reminds me of the craziness to ATS. As long as the songs are still crazy varied and influenced by random other genres, I would say go for it 100%

Okay, so this song is a little bit better than I expected.

    The raps however.. what.

BREAKING NEWS MIKE RELEASES SOME LYRICS FROM THE DJ FRESH TRACK!:

"Red and blue / Blue and Red / I am flipping what I said / Red and Green / Christmas.......

No i'm kidding but you get the picture at this point. What the fuck is wrong with Mike? I guess this track focuses more on the melodies and energy as opposed to a story.

The rap lacks the energy/darkness it had in the live version. Would have loved Mike to rap with way more emphasis.

Chesters part rocks though. Sounds like a very catchy song.
