This is the first single from their new album, Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace, due out Sept 25th. (Personal note: Halo 3 + New Foo Fighters + Best Friend's 20th B-Day = Best Sept 25th ever.) The song leaked today and I have to say that it is vintage Foos. I've listened to it about 20 times already. It's great! What are your thoughts? Lyrics: Keep you in the dark, you know they all pretend Keep you in the dark, and so it all began Send in your skeletons Sing as their bones come marching in again They need you buried deep The secrets that you keep, are ever ready Are you ready I'm finished making sense Done bleeding ignorance, at home defense Spinning and spinning deeper The wheel is spinning me It's never ending Never ending Same old story What if I say I'm not like the others What if I say I'm not just another one in your place You're the pretender What if I say I will never surrender In time I'm so untold, I'm just another soul for sale, Oh well The page is (pages) out of print We are not permanent Temporary Temporary Same old story What if I say I'm not like the others What if I say I'm not just another one in your place You're the pretender What if I say I will never surrender I'm the voice inside your head You refuse to hear I'm the face that you have to face Mirroring your stare I'm what's left I'm what's right I'm the enemy I'm the hand that took you down Bring you to your knees So who are you Yeah who are you Yeah who are you Yeah who are you Keep you in the dark you know they all pretend What if I say I'm not like the others What if I say I'm not just another one in your place You're the pretender What if I say I will never surrender So who are you Yeah who are you Yeah who are you.
I like the song a lot! I've never really gotten into the Foo Fighters, because I tried with their last release and wasn't really impressed at all. I think it's because my first time seeing them was that "The best! The best! The best! The best of you!" and I just thought it was annoying, and I didn't like the mood with them at all. But this song is definitely getting me excited for their album! I'm definitely going to be getting it. I know there's a lot of talent here.. I was just kind of turned off by that one song initially.
The Colour and the Shape is an album you can't miss out on Zak. Everlong, My Hero, New Way Home, Next Year, Monkey Wrench, Hey Johnny Park are all superb songs.
I've had a decent rip of the song for a few days now, but it always helps when there's a quality one out there. I fucking love this song right now. One of their best singles in quite awhile. Apparently this song is about Courtney Love (from what i'm hearing) And definitely pick up The Colour and The Shape...Everlong, Monkey Wrench, and My Hero are in my top 20 favorite songs of all time. That's just me though.
Listen to the song: http://mog.com/music/Foo_Fighters I'm a Foo fan, but the song is just "eh" to me. It's OK.
didn't mean to play moderator just commenting...anyway i'm starting to like this song more and more as i keep listening to it
I love the album aside from the fact that I feel like it could have definitely been shorter. A lot of the tracks seemed like filler tracks to me, and it took away from it a lot. Those songs you listed were all really good, as well as some others. It is just disappointing that every one of the songs probably could have been amazing, like "Drive Me Wild", but never really took off and went in a direction like they should have. It just kept repeating the same thing. The verses sounded amazing, but it was just.. verse, chorus, verse, chorus. I was really waiting for something more to come, but it just kept doing the same thing, and that saddened me deeply. I am really really looking forward to this album, though. If it's anything like the song we've heard, I'm going to be very pleased. Aaaand there aren't as many tracks, so I'm suspecting less filler, and the track titles all sound promising, even though that might not mean anything at all.
There is better Foo. i don't think they will touch '97 again. it's 100 times better than 'best of you' though.
It's a great song, but not one of the best Foo Fighter songs... I've really gotten into them again lately and I've been listening to In Your Honor again a lot. This definetily is a great song and I can't wait to hear more.
This song is quite good. They've always been hit or miss for me, some great tunes and some that are very meh.
