Just discovered this awesome band. Anyone heard of them? They're all instrumental, considered to be post-rock.
They're great. If you liked them, check Explosions In The Sky too. Especially the album The Earth is Not A Cold Dead Place.
I got into them about a year ago. One of my favorite instrumental bands. If you're looking for other great instrumental bands, Explosions In The Sky is another good choice. E.S. Posthumus, The Black Mages, Ital Tek, and Maserati are also some of my favorites.
Used to like them a bit, but real over them now. I don't think they let their music breathe enough, quiet/loud transitions seem pretty forced - in comparison to a band like Caspian who can build up fairly seamlessly. Due to that I don't get a real feeling of emotional sincerity from their music which is fairly important in post-rock for me. All Is Violent, All Is Bright was one of the first post-rock albums to incorporate electronics so I can respect them for that, but 65daysofstatic do the electronic post-rock thing a trillion times better imo. ...I'm a pretty big fan of that album.
Great band, I'm gonna see them live in a month. Finally they are coming over to my town. http://www.superadmusic.com/god/discography.html - you can stream their albums from there. If you like buy the stuff As far as post-rock realted bands go I like these: Mogwai, Godspeed you black emperor!, If these trees could talk, Exxasens, Maybeshewill, Colapse under the empire, Consecration, Gifts from Enola, The Seven Mile Journey, just to name a few.
Mogwai are the most essential of the ones you haven't checked out; Happy Songs For Happy People and Young Team are two of their best post-rock albums there are, and they're still keeping their sound pretty fresh on new releases. Gifts From Enola - From Fathoms was pretty impressive as well I thought.
I really need to check Mogwai because they're coming to Argentina, and it's probably a once-in-a-lifetime thing.
I'm glad to see there are more people on the board who are interested in post-rock. So I'll share few vids. Consecration - Djavo Nije Urban Mogwai - White Noise Maybeshewill - Co Conspirators 65daysofstatic - Radio Protector Sleepmakeswaves - one day you will teach me to let go of my fears Collapse Under The Empire "Far To The Past" These tracks in my opinion are great representation of quality that post-rock has. Not to go offtopic on GIA thread. here are vids from Turkish TV performance: There are more vids on their youtube channel so visit it here > http://www.youtube.com/user/giaa
Used to post on a forum with the dudes from sleepmakeswaves, coolest dudes - album didn't do a lot for me though.
Yeah I liked the EP a lot more than the album, but still good band never the less. Btw. If These Trees Could Talk released a new track from upcoming album, and listening to it I expect album to be great - http://youtu.be/1vhUkzmqcRk
