Thought I'd make a dedicated thread about the game. I'm not going to post information, videos or images of the game because I'm sure you all know exactly what it is. I'm really looking forward to it like all GTA releases, and have booked my days off work so I can play this for a good few days without interuptions, sad I know, haha. Really looking forward to it and feel the online multi-player will be a nice touch. Anyone else got the game on pre-order? I'm sure there's more than just me waiting for this game to drop.
I believe my brother has it pre-ordered. I'll still be playing it but all my anticipation is going towards MGS4 at the moment.
True that. MGS4 is up there too, but since this is out a few months before that, this has all my attention for now, haha.

w00t just preordered my copy from Amazon. I did overnight shipping. They say it will ship the 29th and arrive the 30th, but according to others, Amazon actually ships preorders out the day before release, so it should arrive on the 29th.
I can't wait to play it on Xbox Live. Midnight release: It's mine. Multiplayer Info: Team modes Team Deathmatch - Kill the opposing team and loot their dead bodies. The team with most cash at the end wins. Team Mafiya Work - Work as a team to complete "Mafiya" contracts before time expires; missions include: escorting wanted men, picking up MacGuffins and stealing cars. Teams can interfere with opposing teams, the team with the most cash at the end of the round that wins. Team Car Jack City - Teams must collect cars that spawn around the map and take them to drop off points for cash; the condition of the cars when dropped off determines the amount of cash, except for bonus cars stuffed with drugs (these have a set value). Teams must deliver the vehicles ordered by the "boss." The team with the most cash at the end wins. Cops n' Crooks - The crook team must get its boss to safety. The cop team has to take him down or simply destroy the getaway vehicle (see sub-modes below). All for One - Crooks win by getting their boss to a getaway vehicle and escaping. Cops win by killing the Boss before he gets away. One for All - No boss, just plain crooks trying to escape. Cops win by killing all of the crooks (this is elimination style). Crooks win by filling up the getaway vehicle, which holds up to four players. Turf War - Timed capture-the-base. A number of bases are scattered across the map and can be captured by standing in the appropriate area for a short time; bases can be captured more quickly with multiple teammates, but can't be captured if opposing players are on the base. Captured bases earn money. The team with the most cash at the end wins. Race modes Race - Checkpoint races with the ability to respawn at the last checkpoint passed; numerous courses for cars, boats and helicopters -- laps and vehicle class/type are adjustable (see sub-modes below). Free Race - Point-to-point races; first one to the finish wins. Cannonball Run - Traverse several checkpoints anyway you can. GTA Race - Checkpoint races with the added element of combat; weapons spawn throughout courses. Players can also exit their vehicles during road races.
Multiplayer is going to be sick. The entire city is open and I'm going to have so much fun driving around with my mates and having them do the shooting. I'm going to my local GameStop to get it release night. I've had this game totally paid off for 3 months now. They guy at the GameStop told me to come a good 3 hours before release, so I'm gonna take my iPod and go chill up there in line. I also read the stradegy guide is a whopping 230+ pages.
I'm still on the fence with which console I'm getting it for. Online play and potentially promising DLC make it a must-buy for the 360, but at the same time, I don't really care for the majority of jerks on XBL nowadays, Microsoft hasn't released any information on the DLC yet despite so close to release and I'm not sure I want to limit my GTA play time simply in fear of the RRoD...
I think they mentioned that the DLC would be bonus missions, at least coming in the autumn. Other than that I have no idea.
Yeah, I was hoping someone (whether that be Rockstar or Microsoft, I don't care) would have given us a bit more information on DLC by now. We've known the DLC would be mission-related for quite awhile now, but with stupid rumors such as "new cities" showing up like today, I wish someone would put it to rest so I can make a final decision.
Microsoft paid like, $50 million or so for exclusive downloadable content. When it was announced, reports mentioned it would pertain to extra "chapters"/missions, or something similar. It's likely the PS3 will have some sort of DLC, but probably not the same as the 360. But if history tells me anything, I'm sure Microsoft only paid for temporary exclusivity (you now, so it sells at release with something extra tacked on) and it may eventually make its way to the PS3. This is not the first time it's been done it for a multi-platform game. But since Rockstar/Microsoft hasn’t updated us at all as to what exactly the DLC is going to be, it's a mystery.
Not quite, GTA has always been multi-platform. In some cases, not right away but it's always eventually made it's way to the Xbox. This time around Rockstar saw sense and decided that releasing multi-platform right away would be highyly beneficial. Especially when Microsoft offer them a shit load of money to do so.
No, what's fair to customers is to release the games on both platforms so we don't have to buy a console just for one game.
