Well, to scream like most great screamers, while not waking up the neighbors or anything, I usually just like...Whisper Scream. It's a really loud whisper...sort of. I dunno, it works for me.

Funny that you mention that, Buried, because I've been doing the same thing lately because the band for our youth group is covering a few songs (subseven and Project 86 just name two), and guess what? I get to be the screamer while playing bass. It should be interesting.

I think screaming singing-wise is just one of those things you either have or don't... I don't know if it can be taught, technically... But if it can, then oh well...

As for me, I can scream pretty well... Been trying to make it better but I have neighbors who complain about anything loud around here, so I can't scream too loud... lol

I don't know if you can really be taught how to scream. It's something you can develop, I think. In screaming, you tighten your vocal cords. IN the live DVD of Ill Nino, you can actually hear Christin's vocal cords tightening when he screams.

Yeah...I tend to whisper-scream. It's sort of pathetic because after a while I start caughing. If I scream really loudly and not high pitched, I have to whisper for the next five minutes if I try to talk. Rather sad.

ya i think thats true because my older brother has a screaming voice and it is insane. he screams a lot like chester.... A LOT like him. same pitch just about and he can hold a scream for a good 10 seconds. which may not seem long but it is for a scream. and i dont know, he just said he self taught him self by trying to follow along with his music (slipknot, killswitch engage, mudvayne..etc)

If someone could teach how to scream and it would be right and he/she would do it well, then it would make lots of money :shifty:

    ....sorry.

Screaming can't be taught. Actually, most bands use effects on the vocals and use singing live, so... it's just something personal. Just listen to a lot of death metal and hardcore and try screaming along. Hatebreed, Slipknot, Soulfly and Six Feet Under are really good for practicing brutal vocals.

Try screaming from the back of your throat and sing from your stomach.

ya i think that is true to a degree. because i noticed that when slipknot plays live they sing more than they scream. but corey can and still does scream and you can tell its authentic when he does. but i also think that screaming live is harder because you have to constantly. when in the studio you only have to record a few tracks a day, so your voice has time to rest and restore its self.
