Primo, if they finished it. The demo version needed some finishng touches like with lyrics. If they added in the lyrics and audible strings from IBG and then did something else to it then it would be one of their best songs.

    "I'll Be Gone".
    • I completely prefer the lyrics and the overall vibe - thematically, the two versions are a little different
    • the mix, for all its flaws, doesn't sound like a demo mix
    • the bridge section that I don't like only happens once rather than being repeated

Primo. It just has so much more emotion in it.

I prefer "Primo" in terms of it being more artistic. It conveys skill that "I'LL BE GONE" doesn't, and it has more room to breathe, unlike IBG which was compressed into a compact firecracker song. I prefer the chorus of "Primo", in contrast to what Mike said (that the chorus of the IBG demo wasn't enough of a pay-off), it's just more emotional and feels more authentic (just like the rest of the song anyway). IBG obviously doesn't suffer from feeling like a demo like "Primo" does, but that's reasonable.

    I like your mash-up, Joe!

Primo for sure. I'll Be Gone was the one song I hated off that album and when I heard Primo I was seriously impressed!

If Primo was properly finished, it would potentially reside on my top ten list of all time Linkin Park songs. I'll Be Gone is somewhere lost in the vast ocean of "good but nothing more". Therefore Primo wins it by a landslide.

Primo. I got bored of I'll Be Gone quick. I feel like there's something missing on it when I listen to it. I like the lyrics though.

Lyrics: I'll Be Gone > Primo
    Chorus(Vocal performance): I'll Be Gone > Primo
Instrumentation and Structure: Primo > I'll Be Gone

I like both versions but I'll Be Gone got boring faster than Primo.

If I could hear the strings in the mix of IBG would probably have the edge.

I prefer I'LL BE GONE. I love both, though. Primo is good but if it was included on A Thousand Suns, I feel like it would have been the weakest track on the album. The chorus needed a lot of work in my opinion and I like what they did with the song on LIVING THINGS, having Owen Pallet add strings and how they made it a very rocking sounding song, while Primo was the opposite of that.

I feel like Primo is a song that I would hear in an epic video game while doing something awesome/after a characters death. Imagine Primo playing at the end of Red Dead Redemption or TellTale's The Walking Dead.

Primo had potential but honestly just came off as boring. It spoke of ambition but they put too much work into trying to make it overly emotional and didn't focus enough on making it interesting (ala Valentines Day). I'll Be Gone is just a good pop rock song, and doesn't try to be anything more.
