Is masturbation a sin?

    Before I left LPA, I made a thread about whether or not masturbation is a sin. Now that I am back, it's time to bring back this issue.

    Many say that in the bible it states that masturbation is in fact a sin. What I would like is whether or not you agree with this statement.

    I, personally, do not agree with it. Especially since the story that people keep using against masturbation is really one that's misunderstood. It's about someone who God told to plant his seed in a woman and, instead, this someone disobeys God and "drops his seed". God later punishes the man for this. Many say it's because of masturbation that he was punished. But really, it's because he disobeyed God.

    What are your thoughts?

    I don't think many people would disagree with masturbation being a sin. How's this for a subject:

    Next to the condom machines, there are also a few new dildo machines in Holland. However, you must be over 18 to use them because you have to have a credit card. Now the question begs: what about those who aren't 18 yet? It's not as if sexuality begins at 18. What do you all think about this?

    My reply in an old thread about this over a year ago said it all too well, so therefore I'm going to quote it:

    Masturbation is perfectly normal and if you gag yourself thinking about it, maybe you need to take your hand out of your mouth and put it down your pants instead.

    People build up sexual energy or hormones, when they go for long periods of time without any sort of sexual activity. I can tell you that anyone I know, who refused to let out their sexual frustration through masturbation, has either become depressed, weirded out, a bitch/asshole, or the type of person who thinks anything the least bit sexual is an act of the devil, and therefore is not supposed to be done.

    Self-pleasure is healthy for you because it keeps your heart in shape. Several publications have discussed how masturbation or having sexual intercourse helps to make your heart stronger because of how hard it works everytime you chose to 'rub one off' or 'make whoopee' with Sally who lives down the street and wears the pretty blouse.

    So therefore, if you're the type of person who thinks god will smite you for touching your naughty bits, or someone who thinks its nastier then Ruben Studdard's buttcrack on a hot summer day, you need to 'let it all out' and download some good porn as quickly as possible. I do it almost everyday and you should too. I've done it like that since I was 13 and I have yet to hear god tell me I'm a blasphemic fool and that I'm going to hell.

    The masturbation is a sin thing, was put in by priests who never got any, and got sick of sitting on their asses masturbating to penthouse, while wishing they actually had a woman in their lives. It's complete and utter nonsense and I wont believe that rubbing one off, is going to keep me from walking through the pearly gates, when I kick the bucket and sleep with the fishes cause my time is due.

    Anything having to do with your genitalia is good, unless it's bad.

    Masturbation is one of those things.

    That is, the thing that is good, not bad.

    Interesting fact: Cupping of the testicles used to hold a lot of power in church way-back-when. Ever notice how testicles and testify have the same root word? ;)

    I'm an atheist so I couldn't care less if it is a sin or not, but thats not the point.

    But if it is then may I be damned straight to hell until the end of days. :p

    It can't be a sin. It just can't be. The 6th Commandment states not to commit adultury, which is just sex before your married (basically). So, masturbation probably isn't a sin.

    hmm i dont think its a sin. and i know most of you are gonna be all like :eek: "but hes a christian, and blah blah blah" yes i am. but i did some research once, and proffeser said once "why would God make you with a sex drive, and no way of release.He doesnt want you to have sex before marriage. but hes not going to make it so hard you wont be able to resist. so he provides you with a way out, through masturbation. but that doent give you an excuse to look at porn. masturbation with porn is wrong."
