It's a completely different deal than sampling. Sampling is a whole different beast. This is straight copying another song.
The College Dropout Late Registration Graduation His first three albums, no auto-tune. It's only the 808s and Heartbreak album that has him singing with the help of auto tune. I know, but he is infamous for lifting big parts of songs, with credit to the original artists of course. So him using Memories Fade doesn't surprise me.
If that was the case he would've been hit with copyright infringement. Just because you edit the lyrics and instrumentals of a song that doesn't mean its "copying" a song. You should know better than that Minus. He's basically sampling vocally with his own voice as I see it, cause' I'm sure he wouldn't of been able to release that song to the public on 808. In my honest opinion 808 was one of his better albums, 2nd most listened album of his besides Graduation. I think My beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy will take that spot though as #1, I just need the non-edited version while waiting for the CD :/
He lifted the vocal melody, about 90% of the words, instrumental melodies and more. To me it's not an issue of if he's being hit with copyright infringement, it's him being so unoriginal that he took someone else's song. Like I said, sampling is one thing, this would be the same thing as me making my own version of In The End with a few lyrics changed and a different instrument playing instrumental breaks and calling it my own song.
I'm not digging the more recent G.O.O.D. Friday tracks that were recently released. The last two that came out made my ears bleed.
Man, J. Cole killed Looking For Trouble. Hottest verse I've heard in a while. http://kanyewest.com/2010/11/looking-for-trouble/
Uuuh far from it actually. Tracks like So Appalled, Monster and Runaway really really brought the album down imo. The rest sounds good so far. Still need more listens.
He's a supreme douchebag, but All of the Lights is one of my favorite songs of all time. Yes...all time...His new album goes pretty hard, great work.

The one time I listened to his most recent album I hated most of it, but I sort of want to try it again.
I'm a big fan of "Twisted Fantasy". Happy with a lot more of it than I was with previous Kanye albums. The one track I definitely don't like is "Devil" 'cause Kanye's soul-sample beats aren't my cup of coffee. I dig the abrasive electronics, among other things, and this new album has a lot of that.
