How would you know if it is (or isn't) the best track on the album?

He doesn't, but time and time again the debut single isn't the best song on most albums.

WID is behind quite a few of the songs they've done in the past...but I still think it kicks ass. It's just different. Chester always talked about how they wrote that track as a transitional song, so of course it wasn't going to be great.
Anyway, positive is that I was actually quite excited about In Pieces, so this makes me hopeful. On the negative, he said Wake was short (not abrupt  ) and I kinda had my mind set on a decently long intro.

    Case in point:

Call Me When You're Sober sucked, by the rest of Evanescence's "The Open Door" album was great.

Welcome To The Black Parade was a weak single compared to the rest of MCR's "The Black Parade".

Even Somewhere I Belong was the worst song on Meteora. The list literally goes on.

I'm sorry, but that's where you're wrong. At least, that's what I think.

Nobody's Listening was far worse than Somewhere I Belong.

You're both wrong. Easier to Run may be the worst song they've ever written.

Trust me... my opinion is not subjective:lol: .

Also I don't like how he would bash bash bash a song then give a song like a 4/5. If you think a song sucks, give it a 1. And if 90% percent of the songs end too "abruptly", I don't see how it could get an 8/10.

Hey I thought Easier to Run was pretty middle of the pack in terms of Meteora songs.

I don't think this guy has been following any linkin park news about them changing their ways. "Despite it not being a patch on Hybrid Theory" i believe shows he thought it would be the same linkin park he's used to hearing.

Anyways, enough on how bad the review was, it'll be interesting to see what those ballads are like as well as those abrupt endings

I agree, he should've given the song AT LEAST a 2 or 3 for trying something different by having Chester step away from the singing part. Even before listening to it, I find it hard for In Between to be worthy of a one. It would have to be the shittiest song in existence to not be worthy of at least a 2 or 3 for creativity.

Therefore to me, this guy's opinion is complete dross.

Yea this really hasn't put me off the album at all. He seems like a dumbass, and I'll form my own opinion thanks.

He can only give his opinion, as you will only be able to give yours.

If he thinks it's a 1/5 then fair play to him.

Surely something like Hollaback Girl is a 1/5er. So it's certainly a possibility that a song can sink that low.

I'm not one for paying attention to reviewers, but I have to say that the alubm sounds a little slow for what I like from what was said. I'll still listen to the album though, because I can't trust some random guys judgement

That is my point. Apologies if I'm coming across as a definitive ass, but all I'm trying to say (from what I've read from a lot of people) that people do believe WID won't be the best track. I'm not saying it is going to be the best or worst (as I have yet to listen to the album) but I'm just stating a fact. First singles off an album are never the best on the whole album.

Again, apologies for how I may have expressed myself last night. I was tired, ill and had a migrame from doing 75 pages of volume (and final) 3 ICT A2-level coursework.

I think this was a pretty good review..but I usually don't care what some music reviewer guy says, but giving what I've done 5/5??? I'm sure there are far more better songs on this album, so I guess we all just have to wait and see ^_^

I was hoping for a much better review than that. But everyone's right though, its just one persons opinion & what really matters is your own.
