Your butthurt is delicious.
i broke the repeat button. i hope kiara sings on other songs too!
You know what, you're (sadly) right about the regression in ambition. I'd imagine that GATS took considerably longer to compose than Heavy, though the vocal collaborations in both songs added even more composition time for both, I'm sure. That said, I find it hard to believe that Heavy took all that long to compose, as the instrumentation is much more basic than GATS IMO. Heck, I remember reading about how it took Rob nearly a month to master the drumming on GATS, and us fans know that he is a very skilled drummer with versatility.
These sound like pop songs going by the title, barring perhaps 'Battle Symphony'.
Battle Symphony will be a 32 second interlude
I Wanna hear invisible right now
I can guarantee you she would cause else it would be announced
Hybrid Theory: One Step Closer
Meteora: Somewhere I Belong
My>Dsmbr does, but thats a remix so, not sure wether or not you should count it
1. THP is exactly Linkin Park cause its heavy again
2. Recharged was a remix album, so shouldn't count imo.
Chester voice is perfect stfu bitching
I'll reserve my own opinion until I can actually listen to it, but in what way is the song homosexual?
Using "gay" as a derogatory term is so 2004.
I like the song and I'm still excited for the album, but it just sounds a little 'easy' for me. It's something you hear on the radio everyday. I like Chesters and Kiarra's vocals, I'm just not convinced this is the next The Catalyst for me. Better than BID btw!
That's exactly it: the song is very unambitious. LP is not really a progressive band but they really dropped the ball on this one. Let's just hope that it's the worst song in the new album. LP finally made an unapologetic "What I've Done shit" right there.
Exactly. This is literally the "What I've Done Shit" the band adamantly deterred from in 2010, and the music they openly mocked in 2014. You can't say genre is dead and then release a cookie-cutter pop radio song with no ambition.
I still have hopes for One More Light, as I know what this band has been capable of in the past, and Heavy going to be stuck in my head for the next eternity, but for the first time in I'm disappointed to say the least.
THIS WEEK IS FUCKING NUTS!
the reaction makes me feel like it's 2010 again.
Yes, and this is actually exactly what we need, hahaha.
I'm playing The Catalyst on loop to get Heavy out of my head for now.
The song is not that bad. Yes, it is pop. But this is Linkin Park producing their own songs. Not an outsider telling them how to do it.
The lyrical subject is definitely not lighthearted (no talk about love or fun) since it talks about mental illness. Although simpletons might pin the lyrics to being about being a celebrity.
Starting off soft in the beginning is daring for Chester. Showing vulnerability like you feel with mental illness.
Usually when you feature a guest singer, they either are stuffed in the refrain (Rakim was in a refrain on a LP song but he rapped more than 8 lines.), or sing in the second verse and be backup to the main singer in the chrous. But in this song, Kiiara is pretty much equal with Linkin Park. She sneaks in from the last line of the first chorus, then she gets the second verse and second chorus all to herself! And in the refrain, Chester says the first line and Kiiara sings the second line and they both sing the last line (this line is also important because they could have sung the both lines from Chester's first verse, but they stuck with the first line).
So let mainstream media suck on the teat of this "pop" song from Linkin Park. I am pretty sure it will lure them onto their upcoming album with more risky songs.
You'll know what i mean once you hear the song start.
