Recently, rumours have swirled when it comes to whether Linkin Park is returning to the stage, and whether they will have brand-new music in tow to show off. Back in early May, Billboard revealed that the band was apparently searching for a new vocalist, and having talks about festival headline slots for 2025.

Now, the band is throwing some major fuel into that fire: linkinpark.com now has a landing page simply entitled "ø", and it features a YouTube Live embed showing a realtime countdown timer. Twitter and Instagram accounts owned by Linkin Park, plus band members Mike Shinoda, Phoenix and Joe Hahn, have all shared this countdown.

Adding to this, the timer was also shared by Welcome To Rockville, a Florida-based festival, in their Instagram story. This is a clear hint that the band has some involvement in the event, which will take place in mid-May 2025.

The countdown is set to end at Wednesday, Aug 28, at 18:15:06 UTC. Whether other festivals hint at Linkin Park appearances, whether the band teases any new music in the meantime, what the countdown even counts down to, are simply all unknowns right now. Still, this is the clearest indication yet that Linkin Park is looking forward with new live shows, so fans are rightfully excited and eagerly awaiting more updates.

I can't wait for the countdown to end and reveal the new 4K upscale of 8-Bit Rebellion!

I can't think of this as something else than THE return of LP to the world stage. On the other hand this is LP so:

A: It can't be this simple, there will be more to it before anything will be revealed.

B: After all these years, Minus probably will be just right... in that way or slightly different.

But man, I really hope it's a 'Hi! We're back and this is what it is going to look like!'

    I would be legitimately thrilled.

Anyway, posting in a legendary thread. See y'all on the other side.

There may be sone meaning in them using the "ø" symbol on the website and on the countdown.

Also "altguy", the user who first predicted "Friendly Fire" coming out, posted again saying "New Linkin Park coming. Been rumbling about this for a while. The offers for a comeback tour are significant". The post has been taken down shortly after. The tour line is something we kinda already know about, "New Linkin Park coming", for the way altguy phrases his posts, seems to me like there's actually new material involved with this.

Yeah, I don't think significant offers for a comeback tour are a surprise to anyone, nor would new music be shocking if they're getting back on-stage

This should be about new music. I'm really curious about how LP would sound like in 2024.

I personally thought when Papercuts came out around about the same time rumors of a new singer being a possibility want a coincidence. Papercuts felt like it was ending a chapter and now we are entering a new one.

It doesn't sound like Rob will be a part of this, unfortunately, or possibly Joe. That would be a shame, but I'm still excited for what they do. I'm ready.

Joe has been sharing the countdown timer just like others have. There’s no reason to believe he or Rob aren’t involved beyond old rumor and speculation.

I’m not expecting much, but at the same time, I can’t imagine them doing a timer like this if the news wasn’t truly related to the band being back. I’m just happy that there is activity of some kind. I hope there’s new music in the form of an EP or something soon. That would be a dream outcome.

The fact that Joe also shared this has me hopeful. But I'm being cautiously optimistic in the meantime.

Brad also posted the countdown on his Instagram stories, leaving only Rob as the only one who didn't share it. Rob doesn't ever posts tho, so that doesn't mean much, but I do think that they are trying to hint that everybody is on board with whatever this is

I saw this on Saturday night and it peaked my interest (in other words I lost my mind with excitement). I had a gut feeling the teases to the Bleed It Out 4k release was testing the waters for an imminent announcement, especially due to the fact the rumours going around and no one from the record label or LP themselves were denying said rumours, so I thought something was about to happen. Still, it's speculation until the countdown reaches zero but it has to be something big for them to be posting all of this, getting the excitement levels up within the fanbase and the LP & LPU sites being updated in line with the countdown - it's all leading to something worthwhile I'm sure. I'm hoping for a tour and some new music but will wait and see on Wednesday evening and hope (I know they will) the band delivers.

As for the rumours on it being a female LP vocalist, I am fine with this as long as they deem it the right fit. No one will ever replace Chester and he will always be Linkin Park but after 7 years of trying to heal, if the band feels it's the right time to come back and if that includes a new vocalist, I'm sure it will be respectful and the band will continue to honour Chester's name and legacy. If it's simply they are going to have guest vocalists or be a 5-piece or without Rob, I'm going to support them as I know they will make the right decision that benefits us all..

I honestly don’t know how I’d feel if they were to start again with a new singer since Chester is so iconic. But at the same time there’s 5 other members of the band who basically had their livelihood ripped away from them and if those 5 members think they can finally perform again without Chester then who are we to tell them to stop performing with a new vocalist if they are finally ready to do so. I mean it’s been 8 years already so it’s been a very long time. They can only survive for so long without music. I know some members of the band like Dave and Rob I don’t think have been seen doing anything music related in those 8 years but members like Mike and Joe have still been very active in music with Mike doing solo music, doing music making live streams on twitch, and more and Joe doing DJ sets. So some members may be ready and we may have a new drummer on top of a new singer?

I’m excited to see what happens. Just hope it’s something that is actually worth the countdown.
Because Taylor Swift’s website often has countdowns and it leads to something not even worth a countdown. Same with artists hyping up an announcement only for it to be a greatest hits album.

So I just hope whatever this countdown is, it’s something meaningful worthwhile of a countdown. (Whether it ends up being something I like or not, just anything worthy of a countdown).

Also the band members have gotten to be old now (for musicians), right? I saw The Who live a few years ago and you could definitely tell they were past their prime but then again they were like in their 70s-80s or something compared to late 30s or early 40s in Linkin Park.
Some artists also can sound flawless in their old age while others you can tell their old age is catching up to them in the live performance. But idk. Excited for whatever this.

If they do headline Welcome to Rockville I’m just curious what the lineup would look like.

Also the Instagram comments about an Oasis x Linkin Park collab are just memes right? Because Oasis is also getting back together. I know anything is possible since they did collab with Kiara at the end of the day but those bands seem so different from each other.
Actually a co-headlining tour with both of them would be hype. I love both bands so much.
